There is a roster ceiling. They have some excellent DLs. If Le Kevin could have cracked that lineup and become a regular or even semi-regular due to his play in his rookie year, many of us on this board would have been ecstatic. There is something to be said for development, but the coaching staff evidently did not see enough from LeKevin Smith to get him on the field, and Wilfork was flat on his back in Indianapolis when Addai ran in for 6 at the end of the Championship game. They can win without him, but I think run stuffers add a lot (Ted Washington sure did), and I would have liked to have had him.

If there was no need for Adams to start, then we probably have the answer as to why he went to Denver.
Don't forget Green and Wright are available at this position in addition to Warren, Wilfork, and Seymour. Grooming Smith and Brown is not too bad a proposition behind these guys.
That's why it's called development and not instant starter. LeKevin was a late round pick. His rookie was was a bit soon to beat out our current starters/backups at a very deep position. There is something to be said for development, but the coaching staff evidently did not see enough from LeKevin Smith to get him on the field
I'm not broke up about him not signing here, but I would have rather seen him go somewhere besides Denver. Those Broncos look pretty scary if you ask me and this only makes it worse.
Denver's been very active this offseason and making some good signings.I don't know how much Adams has left, but Denver keeps stacking. They're always a tough team for us,and some of their moves could make it even a little tougher.
IMO we didnt need him....dead weight as far as im concerned
Sam Adams would have been nice DEPTH, but he was gonna be a backup here. He's probably getting a truckload of cash and a starting job in Denver. Hmm seems like the Broncos are really competing hard to get the Pats "type of player" this year.
He's also after another ring, and he's got a good chance of getting one here.
Yeah no chance of that here....
