Anyone think we might use 3-4 safeties in rotation this year? We used 3 safety rotation in the past..Milloy-Jones-Stevens in '01...then we used Milloy-TeBucky and Victor Green

we certainly have the talent this year and it might be better for Rodney at this point and keep our young guys in there longer

I think Wilson/Meriweather/Harrison are definatley a possible rotation and possibly Sanders. Thoughts? Keeps our safeties fresh..we've got the talent and with Rodney's age/injuries..it saves him some

I think theres a great chance we see all of those safties in some kind of rotation, I also wouldnt be surprised if we seen Harrison, Wilson and Meriweather on the field at the same time...

I agree. Given the versatility of both Wilson and Mariweather, I think our nickel this year will be a 3 safety package instead of a 3 corner package.

I'd be willing to bet we see Wilson, Harrison and Meriweather on the field at the same time.

i didnt mean on same time..obviously if we do Nickel or something then all 3 will be on

what i mean was giving them breathers..lets say we start game off with Wilson-Harrison..every now and then we'll see Meriweather-Wilson...Meriweather-Harrison aswell

i also think on nickel-dime defense we'll see Rodney play as an extra backer and put Wilson/Meriweather at safety for coverage

It is all about match ups. If the pats can keep their base defense on the field and they are playing a pass-first team, then you will probably see Merriweather and Wilson. If it is a power team, then Rodney and which of the two, Wilson/Meriweather is the better vs the run.

i think if Meriweather learns the playbook and is ready in coaches eyes..he'll easily beat out Wilson. Hes better in coverage..he played all 3 spots in Miami(Free, Strong and Corner). He tackles better than Wilson

i think the only way Wilson has a chance to start is if he impresses a lot in TC, uses his experience as an advantage over the rookie or if coach wants to give him a starting shot because its his contract year

I expect Wilson to be the starter, at leaat at the beginning of the year. Belichick rarely starts rookies if their is a viable veteran that is also available.

Even when Wilson was a rookie Antwan Harris started the first game over him. Harris was so bad that Belichick made Wilson the starter from then on but it still shows that Belichick usually favors vets as starters early, for better or for worse.

I don't think Wilson had ever played safety in his life before then. This was right after Lawyer's release and they were scrambling.

Didn't they know they were going to turn Wilson into a safety right after he was drafted?

I think he played mostly corner that preseason, though I could be wrong.

BB always rotates his players, if he has them to rotate. He has demonstrated that he firmly believes in situation substitution and wants to put the player that excells in the talent needed, palying when that capacity is most needed. He does that two ways with direct rotation and formation changes.

The last two years we ran out of seconday after starting off having twice the depth of most teams, unfortunately.

In fact I attribute the AFCCG second half to the loss of Safeties much more than LBs.

BB usually penetrates to the real issues and he signed Tory James, and drafted Brandon Meriwether, and brought back Randy Gay and Chad Scott, while merely upgradig Thomas foro TBC at LB.
