* On WEEI the other day, Jonathan Kraft (in his persona as CEO of the New England Revolution) hinted that progress is being made toward construction of a soccer-specific stadium for the Revs, although he wouldn't reveal the closer-to-Boston sites being considered.

It certainly makes sense to move the Revs out of Gillette Stadium, given that their announced attendance figures in the 10,000-13,000 range sound like exercises in creative writing according to those who are actually there.

Kraft also hinted that a soccer-specific stadium might eventually play host to high school championship games, a nice gesture that dovetails with the current push to get the high school football title games into Gillette ...

Red Sox fans spend WAY too much time worrying about the Yankees. That team hasn't done a thing since Paul O'Neil retired.

What a powerhouse newspaper that is. Leave it to some assclown from a two bit rag to dump on Red Sox fans like it's some hip thing to do. As a life long Red Sox fan, the Yankees have been in my rearview mirror since 2004, they haven't done a thing in close to six years worthy of my attention.

Gotta love the assclown Yankee fans who call WEEI every Saturday and talk "Yankee Talk" for four hours, like 99% of the listeners to the show give two ****s about the Yankees. I found it comical to hear two of them in particular proclaim the Yankees were back after their win over Wakefield; wow, what an acomplishment for a team with a 200 million dollar payroll, they beat a career 500 winning percentage over the hill stiff.

Nice to see the Yankees revert back to form yesterday and get their asses handed to them.................

Yeah, we're not obsessed with the Yankees at all!

Well, the guy is an idiot for blasting Sox fans just because a few morons call the talk shows. The Sox have the best fans in baseball, period.

Absolutely! A poll of Red Sox fans will absolutely prove it.

I think it would be a great idea to give the Revs their own stadium.

I'm sure BB agrees. Though with the field turf now, the condition of the field will not be an issue.

Yeah I'm glad they finally put the turf in. The slop lowered the quality of football a lot.

I'm sorta tired of seeing the soccer field lines on the field during games though.

I'm a little surprised that the Krafts, who donated an artificial turf complex to daddy Bob's home town of Brookline, haven't considered the same for the town that has graciously served as their football team's home since 1971 ...

ive played some pickup games over there this yr
very nice field
has the red track around it and everything

03 World Series appearance after beating the Sox in the ALCS was not attention worthy?

What I wonder about is why no one has raised a stink about all the parking the Krafts have removed with their Man Mall. One of the promised reasons for building Gillette was to give more parking around the stadium. Those approaching from the south (495) are in for a rude awakening for the first well attended game. I'd say they have removed at least 50% of the parking on that side of the stadium.

If I recall corrrectly that area already was closed off to parking last season as preliminary site work had begun, and it wasn't an issue. What I'm wondering is whether the mall will draw additional traffic into the mix on game days. THAT could be a concern.

Anyone who decides to go shopping at Patriots Place on game day (unless they are planning on attending the game) needs a stupid sign.

I'll say! ("I need a soapdish, anybody up for a 90-minute drive to Bed Bath & Beyond?") In fact, I'm really curious how they will deal with parking in the normally free mall parking lots on game days.

No, the Yankees going to the World Series in 03 was not attention worthy. The better team lost in the ALCS that year, stop kidding yourself manfatso......................

Well, I'm thinking it might encourage more people without tickets to come and hang out anyway. You've already got people who come to tailgate and hang out in the parking lots who don't have tickets just to be part of the atmosphere.

The whole family can go even though they may not all have tix to the game, which is probably a nice thing. Of course the family will be dropping some serious money at the mall during that time :bricks: but no doubt that works too. Parking could get ugly though.
