I'm not trying to be contrary, first of all. I'm simply curious about how people regard their degree of interest in the Pats Vs. other PatsFans, other "Pats" fan, etc.

Additionally: On this site, if you are obsessed, are you willing to be a teacher or are you simply a lambaster? Do you have patience, or is your patience exhausted?

Just curious. I've been a fan since birth, but I'm not exclusive, nor am I pretentious. Yet, when I ask a question, for which I was attracted to this site for the intention for knowledgable answers, I'm routinely dressed down.

So?

I just want to say that I am sorry if my words seem harsh. I forget that typed words are finite. I don't mean it so harshly.

If you are asking if my Patriot obsession borders on all consuming with plenty of time to offer help to young grasshoppers but no place for idiots and jerks - that'd be me.

I'm guessing I'm outlayed to the latter, but the former generation may be neglected, no?

These kids don't even know who Bledsoe is, you dig?

I know the hardcore guys here don't like to suffer fools...but where is the line drawn?

Teacher. But I am not sure that others are willing to hear what I am saying.

I have been a Pats fan since they were awarded the franchise back in

1959. My degree of obsession is 100 percent. When I corresponded

with my future wife when she left on a cross country trip for a month,

each letter contained details of Pats' transactions. The main reason I

purchased a personal computer in 2002 was so I could follow the Pats

more closely. I live in Maine and our newspapers don't follow the Pats

as closely as the Boston newspapers. Each morning I feed my two

Siamese cats and check out the Boston newspapers and this website

for Pats' news. In the time leading up to the draft, I scan all the various

draft websites and print stacks of information giving player rankings. On

the wall in back of me is a picture of Adam Vinatieri kicking the winning field

goal in the snow. Next to that are pictures of Bob Kraft and Adam. These

pictures were taken at Portland Jetport the day of the Pats' celebration.

I bleed Patriot red, blue and silver.

First I've been a Patriots fan since the early 70's. Yes, I am obsessed withthe Patriots. I have also become what many refer to as a Homer. The reason I'm a Homer is that this regime of Patriots owners and coaches and management have earned that.

I do get irritated by "fans" who fly of the handle over every little thing and second guess at every opportunity. If this regime has not earned loyalty, respect, and the benefit of a doubt, then no one has.

Being 'dressed down" on an internet message board is to be expected, as I have learned over the time I've posted here. I will 'dress down" someone who I think is second guessing and being disloyal for no good reason, other than trying to make themselves look smart.

I call the second guessing and disloyalty to the team the 'Red Sox Syndrome". Almost every baseball fan thinks they know more than anyone else, after all they did play Little League.

Before I discovered the internet I thought my obsession was great. I've come to realize that I really just barely know there's a team down there in Foxboro:D

There's the answer to your question. It isn't the either/or proposition you made it out to be in Post #1, but is exactly as you describe above.

Responses to trolls excepted, of course :D

That's hardly fair. I've been to Fenway to see Red Sox games in person, and I watch them on TV. I also watch Sports Center and have PS2 MLB.

I think I know a bit more than that Fracona guy, thank you very much.

Consider yourself dressed down, sir!

I'm a lambaster by nature, only because they are delicious, especially in Indian cuisine.

That was not intended to those who played Babe Ruth league.
Those guys really do know more than know more than the manager/front office.:D

First note, to Saints Guy - people on the net, as you note, can get vicious, and not necessarily for any apparent reason. There's a lot of knowledge to be had here, as I've been learning... and people by and large even lay off other teams' fans once they realize they do indeed want to learn/hang and aren't operating out of disrespect. (PS, if you are, you got what you deserved, etc. - I haven't seen your posts, but judging from this one, you've just been bashed for being a Saints fan.... like I said, I don't know.)

Anyway, welcome.

Second, side note to Miguel, I've said many times here (to the point almost of embarassment,) that his Cap page is what led me to this forum, and is still a treasury of information. Beyond that, he's a study in restraint, sticking to the facts and asking that others do as well when he wades into a discussion. So yeah, the majority of us hear what you have to say, Miguel, we appreciate your info even when we don't understand all of it because we're not as conversant in, for example, the CBA's language (which results in a great silent majority).

Last first, I have found that in many cases you have to very exact in what you say, some people don't read between the lines. You have to give finite examples. If you don't they are ready to pounce, even take things out of context. An ego gratification thing I don't know. As far as obsesion I've been a pats fan since 1974,I used to be rabid about the team. But in the last few years not as much, I don't know why, my best guess is a deminishing return of utility. Just like each cold glass of lemonade isn't as good as the last on a hot day, each win isn't quite as satisfying as the last. Don't get me wrong, this is a golden age for this team, and I'm not complaining. When it comes to learning there are alot of people that know alot more about the game then me on this site I'm learning from them, even though I've been watching football since 1960.This may be cleshae but the game to me is like chess with liveing peices, which alot of people don't get they think its not a thinking mans sport, theres no complexity to it,AAAH like soccer, or eer baseball

My degree of obssession is bordering on unhealthy.

I would say that no more than ten minutes go by where I don't think about the Patriots at some point.
