Its early in his career as commish,But how do you think he is doing compared to his predecessors Tag and Roz?

I like his decisions on PacMan and Henry so far with Porter to come and Vick not far off..

GO GET EM rOGER!!!

I'd like to have seen "too early to tell" as an option. He's just started on his big GANSTAH CRACKDOWN and it'll probably take a season to see how it works out and how appeals go.

He's taking an active role in trying to clean out the NFL. I like his hardline stance alot more than Tagliabue's look the other way passive stance.

His first real test, though, will come with negotiating a new CBA when the current one expires.

You cant necesarily say he'll be the best ever but he is certainly laying down the law for the NFL. And what he is doing is best for the league and its integrity.

Tags was a piece of crap. He had a clear agenda against a certain team I happen to root for, which was obvious from comments he made after one of our superbowl victories. Couldn't bring himself to say anything good about Brady and Belichick in response to a direct question, just mumbled that there are 'lots' of good players in the league. ;)

Roz was the best.

I will love Goodell if he cracks down on Vick and his animal torture practices.

But he seems a little too intent to assert his will, and that worries me, he may go too far at some point. In fact, I really think he will end up pissing us all off at some point. He will make some needed reforms, but we will all breath a sigh of relief when he is gone.

Just like I celebrated the departure of Tags. :rocker:

Maybe he might suspend the whole New England Patriots organization if we win too many Super Bowls in the next few years citing his decision was based on that we probably paid off the other 31 teams to lay down for us? ;)

I really think that Tags already tried that to the absolute best of his ability in many ways that we don't know, and in some ways we do know.

Every single thing that has happened in this league since 2001 has been distinctly anti-Belichick or anti-Pats.

It was clearly an obsession that came from high up to reign in the champs through any means possible.

At least Goodell seems much more obsessed with reminding the overpaid 22 year olds that they are here for our entertainment, and nothing more.

But Goodell is going to swing a big stick, and we all will need to duck for cover at some point.

Does anyone get the feeling that Goodell has been biding his time in the shadows these past few years, waiting to pounce?

I can see him muttering under his breath every time Tags looked the other way when some overpaid player got into a fight outside a strip club and drew a gun or threw a punch.

"I'll get him when I am commish, oh yeah, just you wait......"

This guy's been awful. But, at least he's been able to piss on all the furniture and mark his territory.

It is really too early to tell, but some of the stuff lately is encouraging on Jones and Henry, it is time to take a stand and define expectations for these guys. NOt sure if he has the gonads to stand up against the owners yet, but the NFL is a cash cow and he wants to continue this.

Too early to tell...I am happy he is trying to clean up the league..THAT makes a lot of sense..and I am all for that strictness...but what about brining the officials into the 21st century and doing something about them and the way of officiating games?? It's plainly silly how every other part of the game has moved into the 00s...and officiating is back 20-30 years with technology and replay there and so many bogus calls. Time for him to clean it all up..I also think the committees need to be looked at and having a rotating membership that includes all teams makes more sense than the one or two whiners that change the game for their own interests...Let's see what he does with these problems and then maybe we'll see what kind of gonads he has..

I didn't like his presence at the draft podium. Probably just because I am so used to Tags. Time will tell.

We will get a much better picture of Goodell shortly. The Vick

situation appears to be coming to a head and the Pacman Jones

final decision should be announced in the near future. If Goodell

backs down to Jones and the NFLPA, I will be very disappointed.

I like what I've seen so far with the crackdown on player's conduct. I hope he continues with this stance.

I liked him at the draft; he brought some personality to the proceedings.

He seems like a class act from what I've seen so far.

There's much more to a commissioner than how strict he is with wayward players. Let's see how Goodell handles labor issues, that is where Tagliabue shined. I find Goodells' get-tough policy with the gangstas a good one, but the proof will be in the pudding via high-profile names like Vick. If he nails Vick and makes it stick, he will be taken seriously. One thing I do not like is Goodell's zeal for selling the NFL in foreign countries.

I was just telling my brother the other day that there are always people who will concoct and believe in conspiracy theories. Personally, I don't buy it.

I don't buy into conspiracy theories either, so we agree on that.

However, you don't have to be very smart to see that almost every rule change lately, both on the field, and also pertaining to coaching, has clearly been recognized in the media, and amoung fans, as going against the interest of the Pats, or as a method of 'correcting' Belichick's style of coaching.

From injury reporting to officiating to whether you can resurface your field, it has all been one big annoyance to the Pats.

That isn't all random.

This Goodell guy is so boring to me. Did anybody see the in-game interview he did with Michaels and Madden? He seemed out of his depth and mumbled a little bit. Also at the draft he screwed up calling people's names out... how hard is that? I think he's focusing too much on the off-field discipline issues as well. I'm sure guys were getting arrested under Tags, but why is it now that this new guy has came in, every little arrest is a huge deal?

I don't see how you can compare Goodell to Tagliabue.

Paul Tagliabue's most important accomplishments are PEACE and PROSPERITY.

His relationship with Gene Upshaw and the players' union laid the foundation for Goodell to implement his disciplinary actions.

Goodell would not have been able to impose his actions without the consent and cooperation Upshaw and the union.

.

Goodell is trying to do good, but his actions have NOT BEEN BLESSED in the courts. Guys like Pacman have the money they will eventually sue, and the NFLPA will back him up. They have the money to hire the best lawyers who will promptly poison the atmosphere as is their normal technique.

Lawyers will sing their nonsense about poor black guys being hit upon unfairly by the by rich white"'MAN" and will try to win in court. Or in Public Opinion. There will be plenty of idiots who will swallow the horse effluvium about racism. They WILL set Players against Teams; and Owners against the Union.

With everyone at each other' s throats, we will have another OJ Simpson and his legal mouthpieces (Jackie Cochrane) situation; or another Al Gore and his legal mouthpieces (David Boies) situation, trying to sue his way in to the Presidency.

The lawyers will be sure everyone forgets about the truth. But they will be convincing everyone that the issues in question is mimmateral, whether election was stolen by Bu****ler; or whether OJ was guilty or not was immaterial, it was all about demonstrating against the "Man", all over again.

Once again justice and guilt will be ignored and forgotten.

I think I'll wait to see how the courts decide...
