The cards new coaching staff relaesed him. He runs a 4.36 and set the NFLE rushing record.
NFLE record, WOW!

Him and Rohan Davey :D

Seriously, when a young guy is cut in May, when he has a NFLE exemption, what does that say about him?

Can it really hurt to see what he has? Even if it means he ends up on the practice squad. The Pats don't exactly have a dearth of talent at RB.

Cards have a new coaching, maybe he doesn't fit the new coaching staffs gameplan?

Too small. Plus i don't like the song.

The guy that just retired from the Giants, forgot he's name..... he is the same size?

I still hate the song. Seriously, there have been a few running backs with his scatback style to be succesful, (certainly not Tiki Barber).

Barry Sanders, notably. Charles White for a year or two after a disappointing career. Generally you have to break tackles in the NFL.

After reviewing, he doesn't avoid contact, but doesn't break tackles either. He'll need to be a good receiver to have a chance in the NFL IMO. NFL defenses don't over pursue like that or miss easy tackles at the line.

5.1 per carry NFLE translates to ? NFL.

I think he runs like Napoleon Kaufman, from the raiders yester years

Saw this kid play some. It is NFLE but the kid looked good. Can't believe he is not better than JJ Arington at the least.

Is this thread about Roger Robinson? can't get to youtube.com.

I found this on information on him, Fulton also caught my eye.

Kind of related I looked at RBs that could be possible camp cuts or maybe could be obtained via a trade (say maybe a WR like Caldwell, Gaffney or Washington). The list of vets is at the bottom, any thoughts on these players?

http://www.miamidolphins.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5751

2. RB Roger Robinson, Frankfurt (allocated by Arizona Cardinals)
He was an undrafted free agent from Northern Arizona, but his performance in
Frankfurt has enhanced his status. He rushed for 1,037 yards on 214 carries for a 5.1 average, while also catching 13 passes for 113 yards and a 8.7 average. He is a small back (5-foot-9, 191 pounds.) but he has great speed and explosiveness (4.43 in the 40-yard dash) and on the college level he was a good kickoff return specialist. His problem is that he joins a crowded backfield in Arizona and, while nobody expects him to compete for playing time with Edgerrin James, he is listed fifth on the depth chart behind backup Marcel Shipp, J.J. Arrington and Damien Anderson. The Cardinals likely will keep four running backs on their roster, but Shipp might be expendable, along with Anderson. Robinson and Arrington have a lot of the same skill
sets, which further complicates things. If Robinson could compete as a kickoff returner in training camp, it would help his chances as he faces an uphill battle to make this roster.

3. WR Skylar Fulton, Amsterdam (allocated by Seattle Seahawks)
He came out of nowhere to post great numbers for the Admirals and put himself in contention for a roster spot in Seattle. He caught 53 passes for 999 yards and seven touchdowns and a whopping 18.7 average per catch. He was a running back early in his college career at Arizona State and he is trying to make the transition to wide receiver. At 5-11, 199, he wasn't quite big enough to be an everyday running back, but as a wide receiver he has excellent hands. However, he lacks some deep speed and vertical skills, which makes his average yards per catch in NFLE even more impressive. Fulton wasn't selected in the NFLE allocation draft until the 16th round, so nobody expected this type of production. He has excellent receiving skills and has improved as a route runner and his feel for the position is excellent, but
he still might have trouble separating against tight coverage in the NFL with only average explosiveness. Seattle currently has 13 wide receivers on its roster vying for five or six spots and Fulton has his work cut out for him. His skills are not flashy and he will have to really "flash" in the preseason to catch his coaches attention.

Does Duce Staley have anything left?

It's because they want to keep UMass' Steve Baylark aboard. Baylark is a ****y ass by the way.

I don't think the Pats check out YouTube to decide which players to sign.

It always gives me a chuckle that whenever ANY player is released, there's always someone on here who posts "Why haven't the Pats signed this guy yet?!?!"

Don't you think there's a reason?

Roger Robinson barely has NFL talent. The Patriots could care less how flashy he looks on YouTube or how great he did in NFLE. If you're looking for confirmation of that, see Davey, Rohan.

Why do people make it out to be more than it was.. Just a suggestion to see what the kid has. As I said, can it really hurt?

People seem to forget that players like Mike Vrabel, Tom Ashworth, Brandon Gorin, Russ Hochstein, and Joe Andruzzi (to name a few) were amongst the MANY players that other teams didn't want and the Patriots happily added. And all of them performed a role. Andruzzi ended up being one of the few starters who wasn't injured during the SB runs. Ashworth and Gorin both filled in admirably for starters who did go down. As did Hochstein.

Why couldn't a kid with obvious speed and cutting ability, make it with the Pats where he couldn't make it with the Cardinals? If the Pats didn't bring in players that other teams were looking to get rid of, then we wouldn't have some very good players who are on our team.

Couldn't you say that about any current street free agent, though?

Yes, probably.

The original poster had a point in that he believes that the Pats don't have much depth at RB. Based on the last 3 years, I'd have to agree with him. Faulk can't stay healthy. Pass couldn't stay healthy and is gone. Dillon is gone and couldn't stay healthy. Maroney was injured towards the end of last season. And we were left with Evans to supply us with a running game during a very critical time.

Maybe with Morris, Maroney, and Faulk, we will be fine. But do you really want to be another championship on it. I'd like the Pats to have 1 more good RB back there. I'm not saying that Robinson is that person. It could be Hairston or Quinton Smith or even Quadtrine Hill. But we definitely need 5 RBs going into the season, even if one is on the practice squad.

Right. And believe me, there's a reason why the players on the team are on it and the players who aren't are not.

When you say 5 RBs, do you mean 5 total, including FBs, or just 5 pure tailbacks? If the former, I agree with you. And right now, those 5 would be Maroney, Morris, Faulk, Evans, and Mills (TE), of which I have no problem with. Hairston is practice squad material. Even so, the Patriots have stuck with 4 RBs out of the gate in some of the past few years.

No. No no no no no no.

Comparing a guy who couldn't make the roster of the Cardinals IN MAY and whose only claim to fame is doing half as good as Mike Malan and Kory Chapman in NFLE is not the same as Vrabel, Gorin, Hochstein, and Andruzzi.

You are absolutely nuts to try to make th comparison. Totally whacked.

I just don't understand the mentality of: this guy was cut, should be sign him. Yeah, look into it for some guys that are proven or have potential. Like Vrabel, Hochstein, etc.

But please give me a break from anyone saying, "This guy looked pretty good in NFLE. Let's give him a shot."

Weren't you a fan when Rohan was on the team?

Hochstein wasn't proven talent when the Pats signed him. Neither was Vrabel or Gorin. Gorin was cut by the Bucs, never having played a game for them. Ashworth was also cut. So was Hochstein. Yet the Pats gave them chances.

Now, for you to say that Robinson is only doing half as good as Kory Chapman and Mike Malan in NFLE, I have to sit here and scratch my head. Robinson just set the NFLE single season rushing records. Did Chapman do that? How about Malan? BTW, where is Chapman these days? Still sitting toiling for the Colts.

As I said, no one is touting this guy as a saviour, but giving him a look isn't a bad thing and its pure ignorance to suggest otherwise.

OH, and yes, I was a fan when Rohan was on the team. I also know that Rohan was the type of QB who wasn't meant to play in the Pats system. And I was never impressed with him. Also, its foolish to judge one player's failure to be that of another player in a similar situation.

Yes, we understand this, but what's your point?

Again, there's a reason why the Patriots haven't. They make their decisions based on what data they have collected on the player, not what records he set in NFLE or what videos there are of him on YouTube. They're not going to go through all the work of a tryout and/or signing just for the hell of it.
