Questions about standing room only

My brother was lucky enough to get 4 standing room only tickets to the Pats/Redskin game this year and he was wondering if any one could give him an idea of what he is in for. He will be taking his father in-law and wanted to know if their might be a good place to take a break from the game if they need to sit for about twenty minutes. I would assume that if you leave your spot it would be hard to get back in a position to see the game. Is it difficult to move around the stadium? I’ve heard that some people enjoy watching the game from the bridge but I’m not sure how that area is controlled. Do they like you to keep moving or do they restrict the area to certain ticket holders? He also asked about restaurants in the stadium, I have been to some of the newer ball parks which have a wide variety of foods and restaurants. Some of the restaurants have even had views of the field; I would assume Gillette may have the same. Any advice you can provide would be helpful. Thanks.

I like SRO, a lot here do not. He should plan on getting there as the gates open, steak out his spot, and not move. If he is in a group of four, they should alternate taking bathroom breaks, beer runs, etc.

You can stand anywhere that you wish so long as you are behind the infamous yellow line. The yellow line is about a foot behind the railing so leaning is difficult. I prefer the ramps where the banners hang or the ramps on the opposite side of the scoreboard at the same end of the field. If you stand right against the scoreboard you can lean against a railing or the building and see pretty well.

Moving throughout the stadium is pretty easy but finding a good, open spot during the game is not.

As for the bridge, you cannot see the near side (left) corner of the field from about the 15 to the end zone down at the other end of the stadium.

You can also stand directly behind any seating area but you are on the same level as the top row of seats, so when people stand, you cannot see as well.

We're talking the minute the gates open. I can't stress the "do not move" portion enough. I had morons try and squeeze their way in front of me a few times and I had to physically remove them.

I guess if you and your group had one spot, you'd be able to have one or 2 guys be the "runner" for food/beer inside. I try to not spend money inside the stadium, so it wasn't a problem for me. My group of 4 also had to split up because we couldn't find a good spot for all of us.

There aren't any restaurants where you can watch the game from with SRO tickets. There's a McDonald's and a few New England-themed concession stands, Boston Common, Granite State Grille, Federal Hill, etc., but if you go to them during the game, you'll lose your SRO spot and be stuck 10 rows deep behind others who are standing in front of you.

Same thing with trying to find a place to take a break from the action. You may be able to find a bench somewhere, but again, once you try to find a place to watch the game from, you are going to be far removed from seeing anything.

Before they used to sell SRO, I used to stand on the fifty yard line in the mezzanene between the 100 and 200 sections from time to time (my season tickets aren't the best). You would get a very good view of everything there. I don't do it since because there are a lot of people there. It looks relatively empty compared to some of the other spots to stand though.

Speaking of SRO, did you guys see that Dallas' new stadium will have 20,000 SRO seats for the Super Bowl? Sounds like a big cluster to me.

I have a question.

I am coming from Canada to the New England area during September for a bunch of baseball games and will also be attending the home opener on the 16th. I wasn't able to get in a ticket in the internet sale on Friday. Generally, do more seats become available on Ticketmaster as gameday nears? I know that sometimes happens with other teams. Or should I just bite the bullet and look on Ebay, StubHub, etc. Thanks in advance.

sometimes tickets become available the week leading up to the game so it won't hurt to try. Stub Hub is good if you got money and want guaranteed seats. SRO is not to bad because you can move around and your close too the beer vendors which is key to enjoying SRO. The other thing about SRO is if go over by the lighthouse at beginning of game you can see the team enter field from locker room onto the field.

That will be great for real fans though, if they are priced much lower than a "seat" ticket. Most of the SB's tickets go to corporate sponsors and people don't give a crap about the game.

I'm guessing they won't. The capacity at Dallas with the SRO is likely what gave them the Super Bowl. The owners are are about the Benjamins. I'm guessing they see 20,000 more $600 tickets. I could be wrong, but I'm leaning towards greed. How the heck do you have 20,000 SRO where more than 3,000 or 4,000 can see?

Thanks for the help. Here is a little more on ticket prices, $49. Upper level, corner end zone seats are $59. After that, the prices jump to $75 for upper level sideline.
