Personally I'd like to see the C's go after this guy:

Jeff Green may be a bit of a reach at #5, but I really like this kid.

I like Brewer a lot, and I also think the xenophobia over that Chinese guy is kind of sad.

It's not xenaphobia but the guy has a high risk (and high reward). His toughness on a consistent basis is questioned. As is his age. And the level of competition he's faced.

Reading this AM that Pierce was a #10 and Jefferson was a #15, so I guess it comes down to some serious talent evaluation.. whoever they pick will decide if Danny should stay or go.

No Jeff Green please. He very well could be a good player in the NBA, but not at #5. He has no real upside, and is a more athletic Ryan Gomes. He's an undersized power forward, who lacks the real quickness and atheticism you see in today's 3's (small forwards). Jeff Green is a nice pick for someone in the 10-15 spot. Think Danny Granger for Indiana. The C's need someone with star power. As deep as this draft is, they need to take the player with the most potential to be a corner stone. Going safe with a Green, Noah, or Horford would be a mistake. They need to think of Yi, Wright, Brewer (might be a stud), or Thorton. Someone who could be a perenial all-star down the road.

Hibbert could have been interesting for you guys but that doesn't matter now. I think you'll trade it, with the team's record getting worse year after year, Ainge need to get some wins now. I like Brewer, him, Rondo and West would give you a pretty good 3 man rotation at Guard.

Conley. If he's gone, Brewer.

Now that I have distanced myself from the initial disapointment of the lottery, come to think that it is time to blow the whole thing up.. trade Pierce to somewhere he can contend for a championship.. get some "mid-level" players, build around your core of Jefferson, West, Gomes.. make a decision on Green and then use the money to bring in some vets.. not convinced or think whoever they draft @ 5 will make a huge difference.. and time to move Pierce on, he has a lot of miles on himself and needs a change of scene. We are in need of a serious infusion of new blood and talent.

I've been really impressed with Brewer. This guy is going to give a lot of teams fits. He will contribute on offense and eventually be one of the best defensive players in the league. Give him two years and let him team with Jefferson and Pierce and the Celtics will be back on top. That also gives Gerald Green two more years, he'll be 23.

I think the first thing they will try to do is aggressively attempt to trade it. They don't want to get younger. They will probably fail at that since the only big name veteran likely to be on the market is Jermaine O'neal and the Pacers will make every effort to send him west.

That will leave the Celtics to take the cliche best player available at the 5 spot.

This week really exposed the weakness of the Celtics braintrust. Their entire plan for the future was to bank of getting in the top 2 in the lottery which was less likely than a Shaq FT.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on the Chinese guy that some are hyping up.

He could be the Celtics verison of Dice-K

I think they have to trade Pierce this season because he will be 30, and his value will only get worse from here. I'd desperately try to move him to Chicago for someone in that Deng/Gordon/Tyrus Thomas + a pick crowd.

I don't know all the combinations, but this is what I have in mind, seems that Pierce could turn on us quickly.. do not want to see a seasoned player not wanting to play.

Pierce could provide the C's with a couple of fewer years of rebuilding. Assuming you could steal a Deng, or a Gordon/Thomas from the Bulls, we'd be rebuilding with a very solid nucleus. Plus, we'd be out of the $70-80 million owed Pierce, which would put us under the cap in 2 years.

FYI, ESPN's subscriber mock has this :

Oden
Durant
Conley
Horford
Yi Jianlian
The skinny: This is the worst-case scenario for the Celtics. With no chance to get either Oden or Durant in the fold, the Celtics seem further away from a title than ever.

Yi is a good fit in Boston, given his size and ability to score. But is he enough to save Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers?

Also this little blurb at #9 :
The Bulls really want Yi, so don't be surprised if they try to move up a few spots in the draft to get him.

Oh no, not Jianlin, too big of a risk. I'd take whoever is available out of Conley, Horford, and Brewer. I'm down on Jianlin, Green from G-town, and Wright from UNC, hopeful they don't take one of them.

It's too early to speculate on who'd be a good pick. I remember people on CelticsBlog screaming for Rondo at #7, and I almost piuked. Never the less, they passed on Williams at #23 and took Rondo, and I've been happily eating crow ever since. It's early, so I'm up in the air on who's right for the C's. If Yi is indeed 19 (I have my doubts) I'd have to seriously consider him.
