If you came from the middle of nowhere, which NFL team would you support?

For me is impossible to say anything other than the Patriots.

The colts because they have the best QB

The Patriots because they have the best QB

I moved to Boston from Nigeria as a 14 year old in 1997. It took me a while to figure out who Drew Bledsoe was, and more importantly, why the Tuna was so reviled in New England. But I became a pseudo-fan in a seemingly hopeless situation. It wasn't until people started talking about some kid named "Tom Brady" that I started paying real attention. Then they won the superbowl in nail-biting fashion, and since then, I've never bet against the pats.

I'd probably root for the Philadelphia Eagles.

1.) they have a decent team
2.) marquee quarterback
3.) have never won the Super Bowl

In actuality the Packers are my second favorite team.

A team owned by the people, with the surroundings of great football tradition.

Probably a team like the Packers, Browns, Steelers, Bears...some team with a lot of tradition, smashmouth football, cold weather, etc. The way it should be!

If I came from the middle of nowhere with no geographical ties to anywhere, I can only assume that would make me some sort of divine spirit.

I guess I'd have to go with the Saints if that were the case.

Well, when I started supporting the Pats, we were terrible, so there you have it. Granted I have some ties to the area, but still. Most people here are Lions fans. Believe it or not, the Lions were better than the Pats in the early 90s when I really started following football.

Texans, I'd hate my team being from Texas but I like their logo and they'd be brand new.

My dad loves the Saints uniforms so I kind of have a soft spot for them.

I like Brees and the way he plays and they have a pretty good up and coming teams, which makes me very happy for the people of New Orleans.

It would be the Vikings because Vikings are cool. (in the Nordic sense that is) Their mascot is cool too. I could have a beer with that dude.

Vikings are beast but there colors leave alot to be desired

Well either Raiders or Patriots, because both have some players from purdue. But not raiders because Russel will be the biggest 1st pick bust in history.

I liked the Pack until Brett Favre started acting like such a douche.

I like this thread. Like Gomezcat, I've been through this process once already in the 1980s and came up with the Patriots.

I probably wouldn't make the same choice now, because my instinct is always to pick an underdog, and the Pats are certainly not that. All the misery of the 1980s and 1990s make this run all the sweeter.

So I'd probably opt for the 49ers as up and comers or perhaps the Saints because of Reggie Bush and Katrina and all. Maybe even the Cardinals. for some reason I always liked the bird on the helmet.

Like you, my instinct would be to go for an underdog. I've always had a soft spot for Cleveland and could probably see myself supporting Green Bay in its current incarnation: a young, developing team with great tradition owned by its fans. :( for the last bit of that sentence with reference to what is happening in Soccer.

If it weren't for the criminal fraternity in the dressing room, I might go for the Bengals. You have to love that helmet.

I know what you mean about GB.

The Nowheresville Packers, of course.

Which is why I DO root for them ... in the minor conference.

Everyone from Nowheresville has to love the little city built around a team ... and whose owners are
tens of thousands of its most rabid residents ...
whose devotion saved the local semi-pro team from extinction during the Great Depression.

I, of course, am a sophisticated cosmopolitan who moves around the world as others do their living rooms. In that spirit, I'd have to LOVE the Packers. Just think of it. Sitting in zero degrees next to an overweight person with a bad haircut who in all seriousness is wearing a piece of plastic cheese on his head. It would be like taking a trip to Lake Wobegon in real life! How exotic!

If I really came from Nowheresville and hadn't managed to move out, though, I doubt it would be the Packers. San Diego, perhaps (think of the sunshine and the beach!) or Seattle (think of the coffee!) :)
