Here's a hypothetical question for you all. Imagine that you were born abroad or in, say, Alaska or another state many miles from the nearest NFL team.

Imagine that your family were from country x with no interest in Football and no previous links whatsoever to the US. Which team would you start supporting?

Personally I'd pick the Texans, because it would be fun to watch a newish team develop, Arizona, because I am left handed and always liked seeing left handed QBs do well, or Cleveland; its city is similar to the one I grew up in (post-industrial with a strong working class) and I love the concept of the Dawg Pound.

I was born in Russia and I came to US 6 years ago and settled in MA. When I started playing Madden and watching football and stuff I naturally supported patriots. So here u go!

I started following Pats probably in 2003 before they won their 2nd SB, so its been pretty cool because ever since I started following them they became real good! :)

I would still pick the Patriots because Tom Brady is hott.

This is a silly question to ask here, we are all biased and will say we would of course pick the Patriots! ;)

Re: TOTALLY OT:If you came from the middle of nowhere, which NFL team would you suppo

if i came from the middle of nowhere and had no knowledge of the sport? I'd Pick the Carolina Panthers because I like the color scheme and logo...

If I had a little knowledge about the game, I'd pick The Falcons because to these type of people Vick is god. (spell it backwards now..haha)

If I had alot of knowledge about football..I'd naturally side with the patriots.

=D we're the best.

If I was starting brand new as of right now, then it would be the Patriots. They exemplify all about what's right in football and they have a great organization from top to bottom.

The Texans are simply awful.
Their management is so bad it's not even funny.
I feel sorry for my friend who decided to root for the Texans by default, since she grew up in Texas, but hates the Cowboys.

The original reason I became a Patriots fan is that as a teenager I grew up in Massachussetts. And yeah we fielded some awful teams back then, but hiring Tuna and drafting Bledsoe turned that franchise around. Although it didn't really ALL come together until we got BB and drafted Tom Terrific.

I think a lot of fans are decided by geography, but if you are starting in with no geography as a reference you would tend to gravitate towards the teams that exemplify excellence. I think that most new fans, under the conditions you set, would choose teams like the Pats, the Colts, the Bolts, etc.

Been iving in US for 10 months, its all about the PATS!!!

I guess I should have put the reason why I support the Pats. It was about the uniform, which was red back in the 80s as you all know, the name (the England and Patriots bit, which is kind of ironic, but I was a teenager) and the strong influence of a friend who had relatives in MA. I might have picked Cleveland, left to my own devices, so I am thankful to said friend. However, I wouldn't mind seeing Cleveland do well, especially with RAC there.

I.

. If he's guilty, let's hope they throw the book at him.

. If he's guilty, let's hope they throw the book at him.

And if we really want him to suffer, let's throw a playbook at him! :D

The Nowheresville Packers, of course.

Which is why I DO root for them ... in the minor conference.

Everyone from Nowheresville has to love the little city built around a team ... and whose owners are
tens of thousands of its most rabid residents ...
whose devotion saved the local semi-pro team from extinction during the Great Depression.

San Francisco 49ers. Young quarterback, young runningback, young overall and likely a bright future for them and they should be exciting to watch pretty soon...hopefully not until 2009 ;)

I grew up near SF & was a fan from the Nomelini, Tittle, Mcelhenny days (ages me!) Since moving to NH in 1980 I've been live free & die Patfanatic thru thick & thin. But I still have some affection for the Niners. Walsh, Montana, Rice, Young, etc. I'm glad they're on the upswing, but hope they wait two years so we get get thieir #1 near the top of the board.

Patriots, Seahwaks, or Dolphins.

Patriots because the team seems to be the way a team should operate, from top to bottom, the Seahawks because the Pacific Northwest is a place I'd like to spend time visiting, and the Dolphins because I like seafood. Ummm, dolphins.

I've always been irritated by the fans from nowhere who latched onto the Cowboys because they were the marquee team of the moment. So I don't think I could choose the Patriots, it would seem too front-running.

The Steelers have a classic no-frills-football appeal and play outdoors which is a plus. The Cardinals might appeal to the underdog spirit without the soul-crushing hopelessness of, say, the Detroit Lions. But overall, it has to be New Orleans. Combine the city's trials, Brees and Bush as strong hooks, and the Saints' long history of futility; perfect.

Are you sure you're not also a Cubs fan? LOL. :D

I'd probably go for Da Bears for their long and storied history, cool unis, and central location.

similar here - came from russia, first NFL game i saw was bledsoe throwing 5 picks in SB36 - ever since i've been following pats.

If I were a nowhere man sitting in a nowhere land making lots of nowhere plans for nobody, I would definitely root for the Raiders, since they're going nowhere.
