Very nice, but that Titans fan on the comments is annoying.

I try not pay attention to those guys. Some many ppl say things without know any of the details of the transactions. They just like saying things!! Most of them are jealous of the pats. They must look at the squad an wonder how we managed to do this in the salary cap era. It really is amazing. Its all down to the fact that players want to come in to win, they do not sign here to get paid, they sign to win and that is the big difference, its the reason why the moss deal (Deon Branch for a 1st rounder and Moss) will work. And because the pats are so smart, if it doesn't they wil just cut him or pretty much any of there new WR's if they don't play 110% each down...

You gotto love the business side of things!

Wow! BM's safety blitz should be huge for us. Did you see the stat line that said he had 98 tackles, 14 for a loss, the previous season (2005?) Bring em on!

Of course you have to take highlight films with a grain of salt, but damn, he wraps them up when he tackles.

I like it!

That's not even really a highlight video and it only features plays from 5 games. There's better stuff out there of Meriweather (some of it's on the Patriots.com highligh video of Brandon, still not all though).

That statline from the previous season read 114 tackles, and 13 tackles for loss. Meriweather's ability to blitz was among the things I talked about that made him a great candidate for the Patriots. The past few years Rodney's really been their only safety who's a good blitzer, so in adding Meriweather they now have two Safeties with good blitzing ability.

Yup, he drives and wraps. It's not just in that semi-highlight video either (I've been saying that was among his strong suites since Febuary). Different scouting reports state this about him, as well. I still think Meriweather's going to surprise some Pats fans.

and a lot of people thought Meriweather was a thug and not nearly as good as Landry-Griffin-Nelson. Now..the whole board is a fan.

Do you have the link to those videos?

Here's one from Patriots.com (you have to click the button that says stream):

Here's the yahoo sports version (probably some of the same plays, but I think some are different, I haven't watched them for awhile.)

Here's the SI.com version (some highlights are the same, some aren't)

Watch the Patriots.com version first, and here's an added bonus in Kareem Brown's highlight reel.

I know, I remember having pretty heated arguements with people over Meriweather, and their lack of knowledge when it came to his story. for a little while over on ESPN I had people guaranteeing NE wasn't going to pick him, and if I bothered to even bring him up it would turn into a 5 - 7 page thread where the same two-four posters would say a bunch of BS about Meriweather. It's ok though since it only made it sweeter when NE did infact pick Brandon.

I'm with you and Remix in that I really liked Meriweather long before the draft, so when the Patriots picked him I was ecstatic.

Everything looks good and all but I am keeping my opinion on Merriweather until he actually does these types of things against NFL Caliber athletes in a Regular Season and meaningful game.

I like him a lot. not the biggest guy, but he sure hammers the ball carrier. The only thing I don't like is there was only ONE tackle he made where he wasn't primping and dancing like a fool (thug, whatever). I absolutely hate that in a player. "Look at me, I'm the greatest of alltime, put me on Sports Center, I made a tackle after a 10 yard gain !!" Blah, I hate that. Hopefully Rodney & Tedy will make him save his pea**** act for actual big plays, and not a tackle he's supposed to make.

remix,

stop with the I was the only one saying... bit it get old.

I agree. Highlights against the likes of Dook do not impress me (though he did do some things against FSU,etc).

Its all we have to go on at the moment..... and he does look good in those games

He is a thug until he proves otherwise. I just hope he plays solid football for NE.

Many, including me, did not think that patriots would draft Meriweather (in any round), becasuse of his apparent character issues. Few denied his talent. HOWEVER, most of us, then and know, trust bb and pioli to make their own judgements regarding character. We all knew and know that the patriots are the very best at assessing character issues, and we trust that when they vouch for his character, the issue is no more. And yes, now we all celebrate the choice of a very talented safety and nickel back. This is NOT hyprocrisy. It is only we fans recognizing that those making the decisions have much more information than we do.
