Doers anyone think that With Belichick and Pioli actually trading there 1st round pick and getting another 1st and 3rd next year that maby it means there is no way that Belichick will be gone after this year and that he is in for the long haul. Really thats what i got out of it if he was going to be gone after this year then why would he have stacked up on picks for next year.

Would love to hear everyones thoughts on this.

Or it could mean that he wants to leave Pioli and the next coach with good picks to work with. You never know, but hopefully you are right!

Can someone explain to me why people are constanly speculating that Bill Beilchick is going to leave in the 1st place? Can someone please tell me anything that Bill has said that would even lead someone to believe he has even contemplated leaving any time soon? Did I miss the 24 hour hype that would consume every sports related media forum for weeks if any comment had been made to even hint that this was a possibility?

Thanks in advance

im just saying that there has been no comment on how long his deal is and the guys on Fsne where saying that he could be gone after this year so i was trying to say why i think he isnt going anywhere.

I guess you were away from your computer when this topic was discussed to death, both pro and con, on several threads in just the last several weeks...

A word of advice - stop watching FSNE before the part of your brain that processes actual football related information turns to mush.

chicken little mentality, enjoy him when hes here if he opts to leave or retire good for him, is it really worth beind concerned about something you have no control over? hes comfortable here he has brady and kraft why in the hell would he wanrt to leave? take a break and enjoy whats happening and stop with the stupid speculation

What we don't know: when Belichick retires.

What we do know: the Steelers Assistant Internet Porn coach has been crossed off as Belichick's possible replacement.

I believe that Belichick will stay with NE as long as Tom Brady is still playing. It could end up being similar to Bill Walsh and Joe Montana.

Valid point. I think the speculation is based on the success the Patriots have had. I'm sure it feels really good and all pats fans would like it to continue. I'm sure all pats fans attribute a lot of the success to BB. Of course all knowledgeable pats fans understand that it's not all down to him. I'm also sure all knowledgeable pats fans perceive BB as the glue. From an outsiders POV I have to say I can see why. I think that's correct.

My point is the speculation is based on fear. Fear of losing your winning way. Particularly considering who the pats were before BB. It's all completely understandable to me. If I were a pats fan I'd have zero worries. Even if BB gets a wild hair up his arse and decides to go. Your legacy is already established.

If I were a pats fan, from this point forward, I'd just be happy about whatever else you manage to achieve. IMO Any other championships you may get really should be viewed as gravy, no?

If BB or TB goes tomorrow they're both 1st ballot locks for the HOF. Period.

Please don't speak on behalf of Pats fans. You've already done SD fans enough damage.:bricks:

Well, its like this. You have media pundits who were speculating last year that it would be BB and Pioli's last year's in New England. The reason they were speculating this was because the Giants under Coughlin haven't succeeded and Ernie Accorsi (the Giants GM at the time) was planning on retiring. Supposedly, Pioli's "dream job" at one point had been to be the GM of the Giants.

However, as we know, Coughlin wasn't canned and Pioli is still here. But that didn't stop the media from running with the idea. Especially since no one knows when the contracts of Pioli and Belichick actually expire.

However, you do have Pioli hinting that he plans on being around through 2012 or so. But the media pundits like to ignore that sort of thing because it wouldn't give them anything to write about.

Its not based on fear. Its based on ignorant pundits who have to do something to make a stroy because there are only so many times they can talk about Randy Moss and Brandon Meriweather.

Good thing you aren't a Pats fan. Championships aren't ever gravy.

This is the only smart thing you've said in all your posts.
