Last night's mega-millions drawing was 2-7-11-22-36 with a mega ball of 35. Do you know what the odds are that that combination would come up..? Something like 1 in 56 million..!! THERE'S NO WAY that combination could ever come up in our lifetimes if the whole thing wasn't rigged.

Post Script: If the above paragraph seems ridiculous to you, I agree. The above paragraph is indeed ridiculous. But it is also representative of the logic these Monday-morning QB's are using with their whole "NBA draft lottery" comments.

A better example would be if it turned out the last 6 straight winners of a lottery were all somehow tied together with the CEO of the lottery.

By the way Quigon, you suck. Seriously, no one likes you.

Now now, little boy... don't get mad at me because you're a clueless imbecile that has no idea whatsoever how things work whether we're talking about anything from British marines being kidnapped to the NBA Draft Lottery...

No, seriously... tell us all again how it serves the NBA's best interest to award BOTH of this year's future stars to Seattle and Portland instead of, oh, say Chicago, Boston, Philly or Atlanta... no really, I wanna have myself another big laugh...

Well, to say the lottery is wrigged is one thing, but there are reasons why it serves the NBA to put marquee players in those cities. Chicago, NY, Philly will always attract fans, whereas those others citieso nly attract when they win. furthermore, it's easier for some cities to sign free agents as they have more available cash, and are a more attractive destination than others. What FA is going to want to go to Seattle as opposed to say Orlando? The only way for some teams get better is through the draft. Oden and Durant do guarantee atleast 5 years of attendence & profitability in those cities. Does that prove, or even mean that the league wrigged the lottery to determine those results? Absolutley not, but there is a benefit to young marquee players going to those cities.

its funny because if anything was rigged it would be boston getting the pick, because all i heard on espn pre lottery was how the nba needs boston to be good again.

how would rigging a lottery to give portland the #1 pick benefit the nba? it's frigging portland!

Yeah that's kinda how there's no logic in people saying the lottery was rigged to send both marquee players to Seattle and Portland.

Now, if Chicago had won the #1 pick at 0.8% then the conspiracy theorists would at least have some logic on their side. Some have said that adding Oden to that team could have pushed them over the top.

I disagree in this sense though Qui, you're bigger market teams can absorb mediocrity more so than a small market club can. That doesn't mean the lottery is fixed, it simply means what it means. 20 years of horror in Portland, Seattle, Charlotte, New Orleans, etc.. and you go under.

But isn't the rumor that Portland is moving to a new town, if they do wherever they go they will have instant credibility.

These NBA Lottery "conspiracy theorists" remind me of the global warming alarmists... no matter what kind of weather we have, they blame it on global warming. Similarly, no matter what the outcome of the lottery is, it must be a conspiracy...

20 years ago: NY Knicks won the lottery..? It must be a conspiracy to help a big market team..!!
15 years ago: Orlando won the lottery..? It must be a conspiracy to help an expansion team..!!
10 years ago: San Antonio won the lottery...? It must be a conspiracy to help David robinson..!!
5 years ago: Cleveland won the lottery...? It must be a conspiracy to help a small market team..!!
2 days ago: Portland and Seattle won the lottery..? It must be a conspiracy to help a couple of foundering teams..!!

No matter what situation arose from Tuesday night, some idiot out there would be saying it was a conspiracy.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I figured Boston would be the beneficiary of the lottery being rigged.

After all, what more could the NBA want then for its biggest markets to have the best players?

Portland and Seattle don't really qualify in the league's biggest markets.
