This might have been posted before (and if it has sorry), but I am interested to hear what ya'll think about Bonds getting really close to breaking Hammerin Hanks record. I being a Braves fan (way more red sox, and always sox when they play them) think that Bonds should have a couple hundred of his homeruns stripped from him.

Yea it is a shame:agree:

If it wasn't for the fact that steroids and HGH have real medical benefits for sick people, I'd like to strangle whoever invented them. Sure the easy, snap judgment is to say that Bonds, MacGuire etc are sleaze that need to be ignored in the record books for cheating; but there's lots of 'cheaters' in the HOF. The Hall's pitching ranks would be decimated if you took out all of the known 'spitballers.' Doctoring the ball is as much an advantage as a drug that makes you stronger imho. What about an outfielder who traps the ball out of sight of the ump and gets the out call? If he doesn't own up to trapping it, is he a cheater? or is he a guy who's just trying real hard to win? Bonds' story stinks to high heaven; but there's a small chance that its legit and that he's an innocent victim. All I know for certain is that the right thing to do isn't clear and I'm glad I ain't responsible for making the decision on dealing with this mess.

This whole thing will blow up eventually, MLB has no testicles and as a group are just standing idly by as this happens. He confessed to using them, and now they pander to the almighty dollar in the court of public opinion. A lot of credibility could be gained if they just stood up to him, and either suspended him or told him beforehand an asterisk would stand next to his record.

Selig can't really do anything. The player's union would fight for Bonds, and while the grand jury testimony is plenty for everyone to know he used (yet the hacks at ESPN still say he "allegedly used" or "we don't know if Barry Bonds used PEDs") it probably wouldn't hold up as cause for league action.

I don't want to see baseball celebrate it though. Bonds shouldn't be celebrated because he's a cheater, and the fact he's a jerk makes it easier hold the cheating against him.

This unfortunately leaves things where they currently are. Baseball can't really do anything to stop it, but doesn't really want any part of it. People will scream that Selig should just pick a course and go with it, but neither is really worth choosing. It's like an election, where sometimes the only way you can get out and still have any respect for yourself is to abstain from involvement. Who really wants to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich?

The only real solution is to move on, and the only way to do that is to do something about HGH (and other newer PEDs) now. How these idiots (players and ownership) can recognize the damage caused by doing nothing about steroids while at the same time doing nothing about HGH baffles me. They act like the problem is fixed and behind them, while there is no good reason for me to believe that any player (even my beloved Ortiz) is not taking HGH/other new PEDs. It won't stop me from loving baseball, but it degrades the integrity and standing of the league.

The inaction denotes complicity, and agreement with what he did. I would rather they take a stand and loose, instead of looking like they have blinders on and are in agreement with the whole thing. The guys have no testicles, and the integrity of the sport is being challenged.

That's a good point, they could take a stand and lose and at least they took a stand.

Of course many others would question the integrity of a game where the commissioner takes unilateral actions he knows cannot stand up to a legal challenge. With Bonds's somehow assumed innocence (ESPN with their heads burried in the sand when it comes to the fact that Barry Bonds admitting to taking PEDs) Selig would get attacked for not using his powers in good faith, saying he had no evidence of PED use and did something anyway. He'd be painted as a vindictive commissioner with a personal agenda and would probably end up resigning due to the ensuing bruhaha.

It just doesn't seem worth it. Seemingly misusing power causes a whole lot of trouble.

Teams should just walk him every at bat once he gets within 1 HR of the record, like they did in Japan to the American who was going to break Sadaharu Oh's single season HR record.

Now that would be funny.

They could even get creative and do things like roll the ball to him.

This is how I feel. :D

To be honest with you I can't wait for Bonds to break the record. As far as all this steroid crap i really don't care. I could really careless if this guy or anyone in MLB used steroids. Why i don't care is because for a long while now MLB has been testing on all MLB players. Which means that noone has been using steroids, for a while now I'm the type of guy that if you made a mistake, i wont burn you to the stake. So what if these players used steroids in there past, as long as they are not doinging it now, thats all that should matter. I blame this whole thing on MLB. I think this could of been taken care of much easier. Just make severe rules that if you are caught from this point on and your caerer is over. What ever happen in the past let it go, and have MLB and the players start over from scratch. As far as Aarron i think he is justa cry baby. Even if there was no steroid allegations he would still be crying if anyone got close to breaking his record. this is the only thing keeping his name talked about around the leauge, and knows when his record is broke he will no longer be talked about as the home run king. Now that Aaron has a excuse for why his record is going to be broke he is going to run with it. Aaron stop crying and be a man and good sport and go to the game, instead of looking like the grumpy old man you are.

I'm with frankiesfly 1000%; I am glad he is going to break the record and I could give two ****s about whether he took steroids or not. As others have pointed out, the HOF is full of cheaters to one degree or another. Has he tested positive, no, so leave the ******* guy alone.

I like Bonds, love his **** you media attitude. I found it totally classless the way Red Sox fans booed Bonds last weekend, the stupid signs and chants were totally classless, so much for fans at Fenway respecting the game and it's players, maybe it happened due to all the pink hats and frauds that now have tickets to games......................

I think he's a lieing scumbag that cheated the game, and that there should be a large asterisk next to the record if and when he breaks it.And later if he's found guilty of steroid use his records should be striped, and maybe banned from the HOF.

So him saying he's taken them doesn't carry as much weight with you two as failing a test? Even though he developed a pretty convenient knee injury at the exact time MLB players were required to submit to testing for the first time?

Yeah, your position makes a whole heck of a lot of sense.

If you don't like Baseball that's fine. This is a FOOTBALL forum, you aren't alone; but don't latch on to this dirt bag as a way to express your feelings for the game. Just go away.

I don't really give two ****s what you think of my position on this. I like Bonds, if that jerks a knot in your ass, too ******* bad pal.

I am a huge fan of baseball, attended playoff and world series games in 1986, 1988, 1990, 1999, 2003 and 2004. Have a good friend who lives in St Louis and had the chance to see the Sox FINALLY win it all in person thanks to him.

Who the **** are you to tell me to go away; go pound sand asswipe.

Aaron is all torked off that Bonds is breaking the record and unlike him, didn't have to play for the Milwaukee Brewers for afew meaningless, pathetic years to help pad his home run stats. If Bonds played for the Red Sox, he'd be a friggin God in this town, talk about two faced sports fans.

You guys who piss and moan over the fact that Bonds cheated are beyond comical. How many friggin Olympic gold medals were won and world records set by people tanked up on illegal drugs, what are you going to do, strip all those medals and records?

What are you going to do when you find out Ricky Henderson stole all those bases hocked up on uppers so he could run faster, the gap toothed ballbag DE for the Giants broke the single season sack record jacked up on the sauce?

Here's a news flash for everyone; professionals cheat, deal with it. Arnold won all those Mr Olympia titles by taking Weider supplements, not steriods you know. I can say this because I used to take Weider supplements and at one time was as big as Arnold, yeah, sure I was.......Christ this is comical, it really is.........

For those saying he never tested positive, or we know that no one is doing them now:

Bonds admitted to taking the cream and clear. There is evidence detailing his drug cycles. He took PEDs.

What he took has never been tested for in MLB. He could still be taking the same stuff and we wouldn't know.

Any player in baseball can take HGH or other drugs like the cream and clear without fear of being caught by MLB.

Sorry but i have followed Bonds since the day he was drafted. I always liked him. If i remember right didn't Big Papi say he might have taken steroids a long time ago and might not have known he did. What makes it different. Bonds didn't admitt to anything, thats why there is an investagation genius. Bonds didn't say anything really different then what Papi said. I bet if Papi got caught using steroids you would be o.k with it, because he is your Boston bend over buddy. Your a joke Bro. Go Barry break the record.
