interesting game notes....

Red Team won 7-6 on a walk off hit by Max Lane.

While Maroney was the umpire, I do not remember him rolling the ball back to the pitcher was reported by someone on WEEI yesterday, further adding speculation to those ongoing injury rumors.

Wes Welker and Ellis Hobbs had a dance off between innings in which Welker won, but I think Hobbs got robbed.

Vince Wilfork had a race against a little kid from second base to home plate. Surpisingly Wilfork won, but not without controversy...at the start of the race Tedy Bruschi put a little tug on the litte kids shirt just to even out the race.

There were no apparent injuries suffered during the game, but it looked like one almost happend. Former Pats kicker Jon Smith while running home on a scoring play stepped on a baseball bat after crossing home. It looked awkward as if he may have twisted his ankle, but there was no injury. In fact, he just kept jogging to the dugout.

Star Player: Matt Cassel 2B, Red Team
Matt Cassel clearly has some baseball/softball talent. He was driving the ball from both the right and left sides of the plate all while playing stellar defense in the field. Runner up would be Doug Flutie, who had some nifty defensive skills of his own.

Vince Wilfork or Big Papi?

Welker on first....Cassel in the background

Welker makes a nice catch during warmups

OMG thats one big gut.

Say did you ever get Bruschi's autograph the other day? I know you mentioned the date and where but i went to go meet Samuel instead.

Ellis Hobbs during his dance-off with Wes Welker (Welker was declared the winner, but Hobbs was smooth dancing to J.Timberlake's "Sexy Back")

Doug Flutie

Colvin looking smooth with his shades on during the night

The Red team celebrates at home for Max Lane's walk off base hit

Rosie Colvin and Ellis Hobbs celebrate a controversial call that goes there way, as the ump Maroney is explaining the call to Doug Flutie.

No, I didn't go to that. I ended up meeting Tedy Bruschi at an event at the Home Show in Boston about a year and a half ago.

the worst player of the day had to be........Vince Wilfork (big shock huh)

He was the first baseman and any ball that was close to the ground, well, there was no way he could reach down and get it.

As Borges would say . . . "The Patriots have lost their way by putting a non-baseball guy on their softball team . . . Vince will be a cancer and will bring the whole 'Patriot Way' era to an end."

BTW, I saw the Pats softball team two summers ago and Randall Gay made a great catch.

Well, that doesn't surprise me:
Wikipedia said:
Cassel was a member of the Northridge, California baseball team that reached the finals of the 1994 Little League World Series.

Stick to stuffing running backs, Vince.

It sounds like the whole thing was a lot of fun.

Cool, thanks.

Colvin and Hobbs sure are party animals. first the playoff game then this.

love it. thx for the pics

I got a question, wasnt Tom drafted by the Expos as a catcher in 95?

Good thing he went to big blue and eventually led us to the promise land.

Yeah he was. Growing up baseball was his game. All his sisters played softball so the diamond was in his family. But he decided that he just loved football too much (lucky for us).

BTW, Cassel was also drafted by an MLB team (the A's). :)

Great photos. Thanks for posting.

I wonder when there next game is???? I know they usually play a few...

Thanks for posting the photos! Looks like it was a fun event. I went to a charity fireman's softball game down in Southboro a couple of years ago. Very small and only 5-6 past and present Pats guys were there. We had lots of fun but it looks like this event was much bigger. Wish we had been able to go!
