Feel free to post any write ups, reviews, photos etc. about the rookie mini camp in here.

It should be starting in about 20 minutes (as of 9:55).

Some pretty impressive athleticism from one of the ultra long shot UDFA's.

Kyle Bassinger from UAB, is 6-2 256lbs. and runs a 4.56 - 40 and has a 10 foot plus long jump at his pro day.

Not much productivity, lots of position changes and injury.

he also has stated that he really did not have much coaching on D...so he could be a real diamond in the rough in time...

Minicamp look

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots just held a practice during their rookie minicamp (10:15-11:15 a.m.) in the Dana Farber Fieldhouse.

Players were in shorts and shirts (no pads). We'll plan on passing along some more in-depth observations in a bit.

A few things that caught the eye:

Sixth-round pick Corey Hilliard, an offensive lineman from Oklahoma State, had to remove himself from drills due to conditioning.

Quarterback Matt Gutierrez, an undrafted free agent from Idaho State, looks like a nice prospect. He had nice zip on his ball on passes toward the sideline.

Four players were at the minicamp who have not signed contracts: Wide receiver Chris Dunlap (Georgia Tech) and running back Chris Vincent (Oregon) are two rookies in for tryouts, while non-rookies apparently in for tryouts are wide receiver Chris Baker (Rutgers) and safety Denny Poland (Air Force).

Running back Quinton Smith, an undrafted free agent from Rice, was not present.

Linebacker Justin Warren, an undrafted free agent from Texas A&M, spent much of the morning on the exercise bike.

Patriots Hall of Famer John Hannah was present. Naturally, he kept a close eye on the offensive linemen. Coach Bill Belichick is scheduled to hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. Then we head to the locker room from noon-12:45 p.m.

We'll plan on posting our next update in the 1 o'clock hour.

Here's stuff from Breer

The Patriots’ rookies just finished up their first minicamp practice inside the Dana Farber Field House, and we just got in. Here’s some things to chew on:

– First-round pick Brandon Meriweather showed signs of just what the team saw in him. His ability to stick his foot in the dirt (or in this case, FieldTurf) and change direction, and sink his hips into his breaks is very impressive. Corner-like even. The coaches had working primarily at safety, but moved him down to slot corner in some spots in the nickel. All that said, Meriweather dropped three balls in ball drills, and bobbled another.

– Sixth-round pick Justin Rogers worked out at outside linebacker, as he transitions from playing end in a 4-3 as a collegian, and was placed primarly on the left, usually the open side. Seventh-round pick Oscar Lua worked exclusively as an inside linebacker, while undrafted free agent Kyle Bissinger floated between inside and outside spots.

– At the beginning of the practice, sixth-round OT Corey Hilliard flashed good feet in agilities, but it was all downhill from there. He seemed to lack strength in bag drills, and couldn’t get underneath 6-foot-5 Clint Oldenburg to gain leverage. Hilliard failed to finish the workout, winding up on the sideline with his helmet off.

– Seventh-round C/G Mike Elgin showed a great understanding of leverage and good playing strength. He seems like he could be the technically sound type that doesn’t have some of the measureables. Oldenburg, too, did a good job getting low in drills.

– There were four players, two receivers, a linebacker and a running back there as non-roster invitees.

– Undrafted Larry Anam, a Boston College product, worked out primarly as a corner, opposite sixth-round pick Mike Richardson.

– Fourth-rounder Kareem Brown worked primarily as the 5-technique on the left side, with undrafted Zach West getting work on the nose.

– Undrafted LB Justin Warren spent the balance of the workout on an eliptical off to the side.

– Patriots legend John Hannah took in the practice from the sideline.

– Bill Belichick will take the podium momentarily.

Meriweather wearing #38. Interesting.

Wow, you guys are good, thanks for all of the info and photos for a Pats starved fan in NYC. To show you how much of a football geek I am, I was excited this morning that I was going to find out what the rookies #'s were going to be !

Meriweather wearing #38. Interesting.

I work with numbers, and I believe 38 is 19x2 (he wore #19 in college), lol. I could be wrong though. I think It's a fine number.

Doesn't the Boston Globe post photographs as well? They might not have put them up yet, but does anyone know where to go once they do?

They'll post them in a gallery linked from their Patriots page.

Meriweather said he'd rather pick #27 or #29. Who has 29 right now?

They made a point of mentioning Hannah was there. Hmmmmmm...

Fine for Coach to say that this weekend there's no evaluating going on, just teaching.
Doesn't mean it has to remain that way for us.

From what Mike and Breer tell us:
o Moss' locker adjoins Brady's. Waddaya know.
o Corey Hilliard will not be with us come September. It's not that he can't get into shape by t/c
... it's that he isn't smart enough to realize that he had to be in shape TODAY.
o Remarkable how everybody seems to be ogling Oscar out of the corner of their eyes all the time.
Mark Lua an early favorite to stick.
