Anyone but me watch Rome is Burning today?? They had Shawn Phillips on and he said he was still ticked about the end of the pats game in the playoffs, then went on to say that they didnt do anything when they "blew away"(which is true) the pats 2 years ago

who went to the playoffs that year??

anyone else but me remember the "finger in the dike" comment....

See below

To me they are just trying to deflect from the fact that they found a way to lose a game they had no business losing. And the fact that they even have a dance in the first place shows they are in no position to talk about class and being and being a graceful winner.

Phillips really sounds like an idiot especially considering the fact that the Chargers were anything BUT angels when they beat us. Should the Patriots have done what they did? Probably not. But Phillips needs to grow up and get over it. Tomlinson did and the rest of the team needs to take his lead. I mean another team was animated after they pulled off a huge playoff win against a clearly more talented team. Who cares? Why are he and others making such a big deal out of it? It's really petty and childish.

Um, that's not true. After they beat NE they talked BS about the Patriots. There's an article somewhere that quotes Wade Phillips as having said some pretty pathetic things about the Patriots after the '05 game, and before the playoff game. At least one of their players said something about the Patriots well before that playoff game as well, so they really need to shut it.

I remember the press conference where Brady called them out after
the "finger in the dike"comment. He said something along the lines of "Nobody talks about our team except our team and our coach" etc.
At the time there was some controversy over Brady's reaction.Personally I thought he was right on the money.

I'm not talking about that, though. I didn't really care about what Marty said, but Wade Phillips said something that was a lot worse....I just don't remember the article. I do remember Merriroid saying some derogative things about the Patriots during a pep rally, Florence said some stupid things as well, so they need to stop talking already.

I'd post the link but I can't find it right now. Anways here's a link to someone else posting the story (without the link). I remember reading the actual story back when LT was saying the Patriots were classless:

Dont dish it out if you cant take it guys~!

How the Chargers acted like they'd "won before"

After Sunday's playoff defeat, the San Diego Chargers chastised the Patriots for their boisterous celebration. Last year, when the tables were turned in Foxboro, the Chargers weren't exactly gracious. Here's Tom E. Curran's story from Oct. 3, 2005. Note the nice quote from Drayton Florence, whose decision on Sunday to head-butt Patriots tight end Daniel Graham led to an unnecessary roughness penalty that kept a New England scoring drive alive in the fourth quarter:

FOXBORO - One after the other, sweaty, smiling members of the San Diego Chargers walked through the massive concrete artery that leads to the visitors' locker room in Gillette Stadium.
As they walked, tearing grass-stained tape from their hands, they gloated aloud about their just-finished, 41-17 hammering of the New England Patriots.
"That's a [butt]-whipping," said defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
"21-1, now," tackle Leander Jordan announced, referring to the Patriots' punctured 21-game home winning streak.
"[Bleep] New England and their team," suggested cornerback Drayton Florence. Florence then said to the collection of onlookers in the hallway. "Get the look of shock off your faces. Don't be shocked. We beat your [butt]."

Wade Phillips said worse things than that, but I couldn't find the other article that quoted the remarks that bothered me. Frankly I didn't think we'd still be talking about this.

Open memo to the Chargers players and fans:

Want to stop teams from celebrating on your home field?

Don't lose.

The easy way to remedy this is to go out there in week two, annhilate them, and walk off the field like it is any other game.

In the post game, talk them up like they do every other team and then move on to week three.

He should be mad at his teammates for blowing the game. They could have had the ballgame wraped up but they made too many stupid mistakes. There is no reason to be mad at the Pats. Oh yeah, good luck with that secondary Shaun, guarding Moss and Stallworth. And don't forget, Watson, Welker, Maroney, David Thomas, Kelley Washington, Gaffney and Caldwell who caught the long ball to put the nail in the coffin. See ya Week 2.

What worries me is that if someone is immature enough to hold onto this as much as he did then they are probably immature enough to take a cheap shot and try to injure a player in the rematch game this season.

the chargers are a collection of morons and their fans fit right in with them.

the chargers are just mad cause they got there superbowl hats redy and they lost but even if they would have win that game they would have lost to the colts 45 to 3 any ways and i think they ant that good any ways ever one will see when they are just a 9-7 team trying to make the wild card this yer i dont like them

Drayton Florence shot his mouth off after that game calling it an epic @ss whoopin (paraphrasing). Thanks for the taunting penalty now go cry.

Teams who get upset when their "dance" gets mocked will never win.

I don't think so, i think the chargers (indy would have had to play in SD) would have beaten them...indy was very happy to have to play us at home cause we were tired, sick, and beat up!

I also think the Chargers would have beaten Indy.

The Chargers are desparate for a rival that matters. Problem is, most of us don't give a crap about them. Indy, that's a rival. Hell, the Jets, that's a rival San Diego? They're some team we beat in the playoffs.
