Mike Lombardi ..... recently fired from his post as Raiders senior personnel executive. Is this the guy that got his start in the NFL courtesy of BB during the Cleveland era?

If so, does anyone think BB would like to bring him on board in some capacity to help, or is he not needed? Lombardi has loads of experience.

I dont think Lombardi is wanted or needed by Belichick,.. I think our Front office is doing just fine..

Although we could use the help on seeing how we could end up sucking and go back to the rod rust days and get top 5 picks every yr:D

It depends. He could be brought in on the scouting team. It is difficult to know how good he was in Oakland considering Al Davis has a lot of control. The Raiders did find some great defensive talent under Lombardi. Some of the offense talent were unexpected busts like Robert Gallery that everyone expected to be a stud, but there were some major mistakes besides that.

I think he is the same guy. Listen, he was a good enough personel director to rise to the level of a GM. I'm sure BB would give the guy a job, if he needed it, just no one with a big title, which I think is what he wants.

are you just in extreme free agency mode , and want to sign even free agent front office personnel now? cause it seems like a hilarious question you posed.

What';s so hilarious about asking about the possibility?

In case you haven't been paying attention, or in case you just recently jumped onto the Pats bandwagon, it's been BB's MO since the day he got here to put the best people in place to enable them to win ballgames. If he feels adding someone like Lombardi improves the teams chances of winning ballgames than I suspect he'd have no reservations about adding another person. I really don't think BB puts any qualifiers on this objective, like say, "well we've been awfully active this offseason signing players I don't think we should add any additional front office people"

If you think that how someone performed in another organizations system automatically precludes them from being of interest to this Patriots team you either haven't been paying attention much or you just started watching this team operate.

If he is the same guy then BB has spoken very highly of him in the past as I recall.

At this stage of the offseason there aren't going to be many job openings for high level management types so it wouldn't surprise me if the two might have a conversation in the future, if they have't already.

lombardi is a personel guy and pioli does that, so tell me genuis where he would fit in

That would be up to BB to decide not me ..... duh!

BB always says he has room for people who can improve his organization so that it can win more ballgames so if he figures adding someone experienced like Lombardi can help the team then I don't see why it couldn't happen. Unless, you in your infinite wisdom, can give me a reason, other than they already have been busy enough adding players they don't need any management types

They're constantly losing coaches and personnel execs.

Adding some now and then seems like a good idea as a counterweight.

Listen, dimwit, if this Lombardi guy can clean floors super well and if BB believes adding a super floor cleaner will improve the team then I'm all for it.
