Nothing to do but talk about it now . . . draft's over and training camp is off in the distanceI voted SF #1, but I am not sure why we (fans) to this to ourselves. Can't change what is already done, but I suppose it's fun to play
I'm surprised he's not getting more votes. A lot of people liked him seven days ago and there's been a lot of sentiment that SF will be a playoff team (something which I strongly disagree with) so I'm surprised that more people who liked Harris and see the SF #1 being in the 20s aren't voting for Harris.Who let David Harris vote in this poll?
You're right, but I see the David Harris phenomenon as being driven primarily by the "please God draft a big name linebacker" feeling then by the sense that David Harris was a can't-miss Pats talent at the #28 slot. He wasn't. He was rated as a 2nd round talent at linebacker with "Pats intangibles," which puts him roughly on the Pats board as a late 3rd round value.I'm surprised he's not getting more votes. He could have chosen harris, but traded the pick into next year instead.
It really does make you ask, more than ever, will we EVER draft a LB in the first round ?
Harris wasn't perfect but he is big and strong, a good team guy, had good timed runs and, still, we didn't take him. I'm OK with that but for once a pretty good fit LB seemed to be there for us and we passed again.
Assume we could have traded down from #28 to the early 2nd round and taken Harris while still getting the #4 we got to then trade for Moss.
Would you have preferred Harris to fill a need and get a player NOW or push the pick into the future for the upside of SF #1 ?
