So I was just listening to the afternoon blitz and heres the breakdown from a jets fan about the jets and patriots:

1. Thanked BB for destroying the pats with getting moss and meriweather

2. Said the JETS Gm has shown his superiority to Pioli by the dealings in the draft

2. Said the patriots have no receivers that are better than coles and cochery

3. Said the Jets would go 14-2  in the upcoming season!

I swear I almost broke my sirius radio when I heard this.....and he said it sooo matter-of-factly that I almost crashed my car listening to this POS. Someone forgot to tell this tool that they dont have a last place schedule next season to rely on.. Man I cant wait for that first game1
With all the trash from jets fans, and the wishing of tom bradys DEATH my question is......were we that delusional and during the pats off years??

I love Jets fans! Those poor bastards have put up with a crappy organization
since Willie Joe and now they are feeling good about their team and the
direction it's heading. This particular fan is delusional but for the most part
they understand where their team is and what the opportunities are for
success this coming season. 1) This year's schedule is more difficult that last,
2) Pennington is not the long term answer and 3) they still need a few more
answers on defense. I expect them to be our primary competition this year
vs the 'phins and bills and they may be a wild card team again with a little
luck. Mangini and Tanny are doing a good job down there and they think
that it will continue. I also love the border wars! What's better than the
J...E....T....S! coming to town?

I don't think the last place schedule was a serious factor. It only effects two games.

The jetssuck are a good team, even though I hate them with every fiber of my body.

They will have a winning record, but 14-2 is wishful thinking.

I am really looking forward to the season!!!

Season goals:

1. Superbowl Victory

2. beat jetssuck every time we play them!!!!!!!!! :rocker:

The higher they are the harder the fall will be. Talk only gets you through August, then the season starts.

Same old same old ...

There isn't an off-season in which the Jets aren't going to ride their wagon straight through to the Superbowl undefeated. Then, when the wheels fall off (usually about Week 4) the fans start arguing amongst themselves and blaming the coach.

There was a guy who used to come on this board and tell us that the Jets would have us beaten every time if only Herm would ditch half his starters and play the brilliant back-ups that they had (Lamont Jordan rather than Curtis Martin, etc., etc.) Typical Jets fan.

The difference is that now they have a coach who knows what he is doing and whom they respect (because he was with the Patriots, although, of course, they won't admit that to themselves). They will probably have a winning record. But 14-2? In your dreams, sweetheart!

It's the same story as with the Fins fans last year.

I think the Jets are the exact same team as the 2004 Bills and 2005 Dolphins. Especially the 2005 Dolphins. Both team's played better than they were, both teams had cake walk schedule's to end the year and both team's are relying (or relied in the Dolphins' case) on injury riddled QBs, and I thikn in the end both teams will have fallen flat on their face. The one difference is that the Jets won their mid-season matchup with NE and Miami lost theirs.

I still think the Jets will be competitve, but I don't see them returning to the playoffs. If you look at their offensive rankings last year, they were god awful. The defense wasn't anything special either, but the offense is a Lavernous Coles injury away from being one of the league's worst offenses.

(Then again, who am I to talk about poor offense.) :singing:

Hate to admit it, but you're right lol.

I was wrong about the Fins last year BIG TIME, and I think the Jets fans are wrong this year as well. I don't see any team going 14-2 for a while with the salary cap and all. (Yes the Chargers did it last year, but that's just amazing with the current structure of the NFL.) You have to be extremely talented and also see a lot of luck to go 14-2.

:D You're alright, Aqua!

Hey I feel bad for anyone that can't laugh at themselves. ;)

EDIT: Dude I looked at your post count and join date and at first I was thinking 2006 as in this year. And it says May, 2006. HAHA! I thought you had 220 posts in a day and a half. Oh man, that was a good laugh.

It's completely understandable for fans to get excited about the upcoming year when their team had a good year previously. I think people just need to control their excitement and realize that just because your team improved doesn't mean they are suddenly the greatest thing since sliced bread. As the Fins and many other teams have shown, it is just as easy to regress from one year to the next as it is to improve. So having one good year isn't a guarantee that your team will continue to improve in the following year. That being said, I really didn't expect the Fins to be as bad as they were last year. I thought the Patriots would still win the division, but I bought into the Fins hype a little as well. I think the Jets are on the right track but I think they still have some questions and I also believe their roster isn't quite talented yet to challenge the Patriots, especially on defense.

And don't forget, the Colts went 14-2 in 2005, and the Patriots went 14-2 in both 2003 and 2004. Pittsburgh went 15-1 in 2004. So in fact a team has gone 14-2 or better in each of the last four years.

That's a great point Zippo. Of course every team will make moves trying to better their team. But the fact is, someone has to bite the bullet and realize those moves in fact made them worse. If every team got better, there would be no bad teams in the league. You're right, teams do have to regress and teams do have to progress. Great post Zippo, I couldn't agree more, and I won't ever have those expecations again. I'll always be excited, but not expect Super Bowls.

And you basically powned me with that 14-2 records, I didn't even think about that. But 14-2 seems so undoable. You have to have almost no injuries and get some luck in games quite often IMO.

The Jets got knocked out of the playoffs and then the Pats embarassed them having Asante pick one off for fun and return it for a TD. Wow they have been 1-8 against us in the last 9 games. They are the greatest.

If I were a Jets fan I would be happy with Revis and Harris. I think they got two good players.

I would not be happy in the way that came about - while I know they liked Revis and Harris in particular I think they wound up giving up a lot of quality picks - and therefore quality players - to move up- especially in a year when teams were having a tough time finding partners to trade down.

That's just my opinion, but I'm willing to give the the Jets front office the benefit of the doubt - if there's a player you need to take them before anyone else does. Indeed Revis was among the top CBs and they got him. Harris went about where I expected.

But again, if I'm the GM of the Jets I know I need quality depth - and I'm hoping for more than 2 players from Day one to help my team.

Kinda ironic you say that

Anyway, the only thing the Jets fan might be right about is Coles and Cotch. Sure, Stallworth and Moss are much sexier, but IMO, will have to prove themselves all over again this season.

Eh? Are you kidding me. The Jets are competing for second place in this division. I get way more excited facing the Chargers or the Colts, teams I know can give us a run for our money. I think our moves this offseason make us the team to beat. But it's the head to head matchups that will determine seeding I think. I expect no less than 13 wins from this team but it's hard to predict right now where the losses will be coming from. That's why they play the game. We look great on paper, but we'll have to see this team grow into their potential.

Speaking of which, I was away over the weekend but am now catching up and see that as expected the Fins drafted Brady Guinn. Good move - you guys need a QB!

Seriously, I have no idea about how good that 2nd round QB your boys got is but only time will tell whether that was a bonehead move or a great one.

I think the stupid thing was, was to assume Beck would make it to 40. The Dolphins' staff LOVED Beck and wanted him the most and felt they could get him later and get an explosive WR and special teamer in the first. It was reported that the Fins attempted 3 TIMES to move into the 20's to get Beck. We were VERY fortunate to have him slide to 40. How it pans out? We'll just have to wait and see like you said. ;)

The Jets are remind me of the pain in the ass neighbor’s dog. You know, the one where when you go over it yaps at you or tries to hump your leg. In the owners mind he’s a very loyal, feisty and even likable pooch. But everyone else in the neighborhood (or league) knows the truth.
