Randy Moss is no Corey Dillon

I am as excited as the rest of us about having Brady throwing to Moss.

But the whitewash that Randy Moss is a case like Corey Dillon is kind of insulting. Moss has had run ins with the law repeatedly, as well as really bad behavior. Corey was no where near the same freak show, as far as I know.

I hope Randy shapes up. But we are starting with much shakier raw material.

Am I right, or did I not appreciate something really bad about Corey Dillon?

The truth of the matter is that off the field crimes don't necessarily hinder a team all that much; see Cincinnatti Bengals.

What you don't want is someone who doesn't play at 100% which Moss has admitted to doing or someone who stirs thing up in the locker room. If a guy gives his all and gets along with everyone, the fact that he commits a felony on his own time doesn't have much impact on the team (assuming he's not suspended) aside from PR.

This is a fresh start for "Randall" Moss, and everyone knows he'll be on a short leash. I hope he makes the best of this opportunity to solidify himself as one of the truly great WRs.

Wrong on Dillon, do a search on google on Corey Dillon and arrest and get things like this:

(1996) Corey Dillon was arrested in Seattle's Central Area for investigation of several driving violations, including driving while intoxicated. Dillon was stopped by police for driving erratically in the 2100 block of East James Street sometime before 2 a.m., according to police. Dillon was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, driving with a suspended license and negligent driving.

Arrested for: DUI, theft (twice), intent to sell cocaine, obstructing a police officer (thrice), resisting arrest (twice), assault (five times), criminal trespass, malicious mischief (twice), reckless endangerment (twice)
Corey Dillon has committed so many crimes (with such variety!), we inducted him early. He had 11 arrests before age 17. Since going pro Corey’s been busted for DUI, driving with a suspended license, and assaulting his wife. We still expect a lot of jail time from this promising youngster.

Moss hasn't really been a major criminal or anything.

He got in a couple of fights in high school because some racist kids tried to beat him up. Good for him.

He's smoked pot. Good for him.

He brushed his vehicle up against a meter maid. Not the best judgement but hardly reason for inclusion in a pen house.

He pretend mooned the Packer faithful. Lock him up!

"repeatedly"???? please..I think you are confusing him with another..maybe Pacman??? There was ONE or maybe two hardly repeatedly... Dillon's trouble was as a teen...although there may have been something later. Arrests?? NOT the complainat about Moss..other things..yes..

The one run-in with the law with Moss was when he pushed the meter maid with his car. Probably not the best idea, but whatever.

Moss's problem has always been his "take plays off" attitude.

It's amazing how fast people forget how Corey Dillon shot his way out of town. If people don't think that he didn't quit on that team, you're wrong. Here are some excerpts out of an article about the trade.

Dillon, 29, wasn't happy during the Bengals' renaissance season under coach Marvin Lewis. While the Bengals stayed in playoff contention, Dillon groused about his lack of carries and lobbied for a trade.

Lewis tried to get Dillon to take more of a leadership role last season, but was rebuffed. Dillon's public complaints in the middle of a turnaround season essentially sealed his fate.

"They don't need me," Dillon said afterward. "They've been winning, quote unquote, without me." (Sounds like he's quitting on his team with that quote)

Dillon renewed his push for a trade last month by going on a national sports talk show dressed in a Raiders jersey. He also lashed out at Pro Bowl offensive tackle Willie Anderson, calling him "a bum." Anderson had criticized Dillon for being selfish while the team was in playoff contention.

By the way, hasn't anyone looked at the fact that Dillon wanted his release from the Pats because his role was being reduced. To me that is quitting on your team, not accepting what your role is and not being happy in said role. Is this sort of sounding familiar? Instead of accepting a reduced role to help out our team, he pouted and then said he was retiring IMMEDIATELY after the AFCCG. The only reason why he didn't do that in the middle/end of the season is because he realized there was a legit shot at the SB.

Factors are different between Moss and Dillon but the outcome was the same. They were unhappy in their situations and wanted out. The only difference is that the Raiders needed Moss a lot more than the Bengals needed Dillon.

Moss is also a better WR than Dillon is a RB. I'm not saying that Dillon wasn't good, he was a VERY GOOD RB. However he wasn't a Hall of Fame talent just a damn good one. Moss, however, is a Hall of Fame talent.

He may have a few more issues than Dillon but his upside is even greater.

Let this be a lesson to all: get your facts straight before presenting your case! I appears that Dillon had his legal issues too. I definately remember the domestic abuse incident from his "Beyond the Glory" episode.

IIRC Dillon was considered MUCH more of a locker room cancer than Moss was/is. Granted, Moss pissed of his coaches/FO, but by all accounts, his teammates (by and large) generally liked him. Fans too from the sounds of it.

Dillon was hated by most of his teammates (I beleive), his coaches lost faith in him and he wasn't a fan favorite either.

I think that th only thing that he has over Moss was that he was a 100% worker, all the time.

By the way, is it me, or does anyone else get the "quit on his teammates" being a little too hyped. Lets face it, he is HARDLY the only Raider the hasn't been giving it his all last year. He may be the highest profile Raider, but that is a whole team of underacheivers there.

He will be fine here.

Because of his reputation for taking plays off, structuring his contract to a $3M base and $5M in incentives is a wise move. If the guy would rather play for money than his teammates, at least he's got something to play for.
