The Jets forced the Pats to take Moss:

Okay, it's a goofy article, unintentionally funny, but why is it that NY media supports the Jets, Indy media supports the Colts, etc etc, and the Boston media can't do anything but crap on the Pats?

You know that the Pats were going to be trashed in the Boston media no matter what they did.

Even the official Patriots pre-game radio show was an exercise in Pats bashing with wRONg Borgass.

Total bull**** article.

Pats weren't seeking Randy Moss. An opportunity arose which included little compensation in terms of trade demand and $ demand. You couldn't turn it down.

Pats looked upwards towards Indy, not downwards towards the Jets. Ridiculous.

Give me a Friggin Break. What a joke. BB/Pioli could care less about that team. We needed a linebacker, so we signed Thomas. After last season, it was clear that we needed WRs so we signed, Stallworth, Washington and traded for Welker and Moss is no more than a luxury, IMHO.

They flatter themselves.

Wow, they certainly have an over-inflated opinion of themselves.

WOW. This guy sounds like one of the posters on THE GANGGREEN.com.

Now, I have to disagree that the Pats made their moves SOLEY to over-come the Colts. The Patriots made their moves to get better. Period. It was not relative to any ONE team. It was relative to the entire league.

That was not my intended meaning. I also believe the Pats made most of these signings to get better, but in general they look up to the Colts and not down to the Jets. I do think that the Colts' loss highlighted certain weaknesses and deficiencies which have subsequently been addressed in the offseason.

Jets did great last year. Pennington came up big [FINALLY] and they have a good [possibly great] coach that learned from the BEST. Great draft last year by addressing the line in 2006, but I'm not convinced that the 2007 draft was as impressive.

That said, they didn't dominate the Pats in any of the three games last year. They played the Pats close; the same Pats team that had Caldwell leading the receiving corp. I'm sure Jets fans are less than excited about facing Moss, Stallworth and Welker. I'm less than excited to face Thomas Jones twice a season.

Does it matter what team in the division? Last year everyone thought the Dolphins were going to the be the team coming out of the AFC East and it turned out to the be the Jets (and it was the AFC Wild Card, not East title). Its all the same... I knew one of the teams were going to be better and it happened to be the Jets over the Dolphins.

Dolphins look to be in trouble and I would be surprised if they competed for the AFC East, but that defense is explosive.

The Pats made their offseason moves with getting better than the Colts and Chargers in mind. To think anything else proves you don't follow the NFL.

The Jets? They aren't even a blip on the Pats or any other contenders radar.

Eh, I already made the point yesterday in a different thread. You'd swear the Jets didn't finish two games behind NE in the division, and didn't get soundly handled in the playoffs.

NE needs to beat the Colts, Chargers, and Broncos. The Jets are a speedbump in the road.

Huh???

I thought he was writing a tongue-in-cheek article until about halfway through. Wow. Am I wrong, or could that same article, with cosmetic changes, also appear in the Buffalo and Miami papers?

I'd like to think BB's modus operandi is putting the best possible football team on the field on Sundays. Not reactionary to other teams in the league. Especially those stocking their roster with the Patriot's table scraps in attempt to draw even. How many more ex-Pats go over there this year? Guss Scott? LeKevin Smith? Gene Mruczkowski? Danny Baugher?

Yea, because Revis and Harris make the '07 NY Jets such a power house:rolleyes:

Really, Revis is talented and he was my favorite CB in the draft, but he's a rookie, and the Jets arent the Patriots. They should have used some of their other draft picks and added more first day players, instead or mortgaging their entire draft for a very good college CB and a good but short armed college ILB.

(I've said he has short arms for awhile, so I didn't change my tune because the Jets drafted him.)

I'd expect this kind of arrogant, thinking-the-whole-world-revolves-around-your-team behavior from the fans, but I thought the media was supposed to be little bit above that, and give a more objective veiw. This guy is so full of himself it's funny. I'm sure a 10-6 team who we throttled during the playoffs is really keeping Belichick awake at night. The Patriots made these moves to make themselves a better team, not to best one single opponenent. Give me a break.

This is simply ridiculous. The Jets had a good season. They also had a weak schedule and for not a couple of stupid plays on our part we would have swept them again. I love the NY media fawning over the Jets now. Once they get beaten down again next year they can smell reality. That this guy truly thinks Belichick and Pioli are making moves BECAUSE the Jets are sooo good is truly astonishing.

It seems like the NY media has to be at either extreme on the spectrum. They either have to think their team sucks and write articles ripping the players nad coaches or they have to think their team is the greatest thing ever and everyone else should be in awe of them. Is there no in between?

I wonder if the Pats were more afraid of the 18th ranked defense or the 25the 25th ranked offense that the Juggernaut Jets put out there last year?

Let's just let this one play out on the field.

Cannot wait to see Maroney shred Harris and how in the world will Revis defend the group of wideoutshe is about to see.

Come J-e-t-s, try and show us what you got!

Don't forget about the Ravens either. I think our offense would have struggled in the playoffs had we played them. Now I believe we have an edge. We are not even behind the Colts at this point, and last season they were barely ahead. Though we weren't better than SD last year, we managed to become as talented in the offseason (give the coaching edge to NE obviously).

If there was one team I think Belichick is preparing to beat it's Denver (yeah, I know, not on the schedule- think playoffs). Think about this though- their new DC is Jim Bates, who gave us fits with the Dolphins. They have 2 excellent corners, speedy linebackers and some young talent on the D-line. Their D will be hard to score on without a stable of weapons, so I believe Belichick has this in mind. All these years the Pats were prepared to beat every team BUT Denver, so maybe Belichick isn't taking chances anymore.
