But when Brandon Meriweather does it he is a thug with character issues. Funny how that works. Funny how the media keeps saying "gun charge" when Meriweather has no gun charge. They fail to mention the Miami police stated Meriweather did not do anything criminal. They fail to mention that he was using his registered handgun to return fire / protect himself against a man who had just shot his roommate in a robbery attempt. At this point anyone who owns a legal handgun has a character issue. The Constitution of the United states says otherwise. Millions of people own handguns legally, millions. Lawyers, doctors, women and men. Funny how this kid is a thug because he used his registered handgun to protect himself and his roommate against a armed attacker. Something anyone on this board would do if they had to.

Did I mention the kid was studying to be a cop. I love the bull**** these media clowns spit out. Totally unfair. Can meriweather do anything about these people slandering him and not stating the details/facts about this situation? I'm so sick of them saying "gun charge" and not telling the full story ( which totally debunks there agenda they are pushing)

Like I said. If this was Joe Thomas out in Wisconsin returning fire against a assailant who just shot his roommate with his registered handgun, he would be hailed a hero. But the kid who is studying to be a cop in a city where a fellow teammate was shot in the back of the head for no reason cannot own a gun legally for protection without being a bad person?

The gun thing doesn't bother me one bit. I think a combination of things cause people to label him over that, especially him coming from Miami. And something else that I'll leave to everyone's imagination, though certainly you can guess what it is (if you're comparing him to Joe Thomas...)

What bothers me is the stomping incident. Of course, I get extremely hotheaded as a hockey goalie, so I can understand what it's like to lose yourself in the moment. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

And something else that would make him different than Joe Thomas, but when I mentioned it with Wes Welker I got blasted by a good deal of posters, so I'll just leave that to your imagination.

I can understand that. What he did was stupid. But he apologized and took full responsibility for his actions. What he did was a mistake, not a character flaw. Emotions cause everyone to do something they are not proud of at some point in there life. If he had a history of this kind of thing that would be one thing but he does not. It was a stupid, stupid mistake. Plain and simple. A mistake which he did not run from. Did not makes excuses for. But to insinuate the kid is a thug who has gun charges is irresponsible and inaccurate. They want you to think he is a shoot em up gangster with the way they talk. Not a guy studying to be a cop who tried to help his friend with his LEGAL gun. Sadly that is what the media is doing. I guess they just don't care about the facts.

They talk about people selling there soul. Think they might need to look in the mirror.

Well when you go around bashing your cleats on other player's heads, it doesn't exacly shout great character.

Two words RICKY WILLIAMS. Ob what the kid did was stupid. He got caught up in a brawl. He then too full responsibility for his actions. He had no prior history of violence or fighting. That means the kid made a mistake. By the media's logic the first time a person screws up at anything in life they should be labeled as bad person. We all know the media is full of perfect angels. Your parents had you... Should we label them bad people?

What did Seymour do a few years ago? Guess we should label him a bad person for one mistake. Point is he deserves a chance. There is no body of work that would lead one to believe this was anything more then a STUPID mistake on his part.

Okay, if this was a thread about Ricky Williams, that would be okay. Don't bring other things into this, it's about Brandon Meriweather.

And I really don't think that last line was called for. You don't even know me or the successes I've had.

This is probably the only time I've really been pissed off on this board. How dare you ******* bring my parents into this. **** you, scumbag!

You take things wayyy to serious jr. Btw I edited my post a bit before I posted it captain tears. Go back and read it again.

The only time I ever retaliate like that is in pure defense. I'm attacked here on a daily basis but never like that.

If you aren't banned soon than this place is really ridiculous.

For what, lol? Making a simple joke that you clearly are taking wayyyy to serious. This is the Internet. Get out of this thread you fool. Anyone who wants to see what you are all about can refer to the locker room for some of your own insults. Go back to the phin forum.

I edited my original after you quoted it. Ob you did not know that since you quoted it so fast. It was clearly a joke. Calm down killer.

Chicago Bears linebacker Bryan Cox, who said he owns seven guns, said, ''Where I'm from in East St. Louis, a gun was like a credit card; you didn't leave home without it.''

From this article in the New York Times from 1997.
Seems like the league has come a long way. With the number of incidents in the mid-90's it could have been the "National Firearms League."
I don't think that we need to be concerned at all with the Merriweather hand gun incident. He learned something and reportedly doesn't own a gun any longer. . . .

Read this on another board this AM, chalk it up under media fascination with all things Patriot or microscopic exam of all things from Miami. He did nothing wrong, the reality is that guns, whether we like them or not, is a right in this country. To defend oneself is a right we all have, did not know he was studying to be a Police Officer at Miami.. then again did not know you had to go to a 4 year school to be one. Right now I trust Bill, let him come here with a clean slate and give him an opportunity to play the game.

Well I tried to give my opinion and he decided to go in the direction of attacking me and my family personally.

Just so you know. I work with a few people who lived in the MIAMI area and they told me most who live there a own a gun. Crime is bad and the cops are slow to response because of all the daily crime.
This is why both of them moved.

Wish this were true, danny. But you realize, don't you?
that many people on this board live where the law commands that,
when you come under attack, you must run away before defending yourself.

Then call the police and wait until they arrive.
Like the defenseless flock of sheep in Blacksburg.

If you don't like this place, kindly leave. No one is forcing you to come here. in fact, no one wants you here. You are tolerated because you are a goof.

You're out of line, troll. You are a guest here, and you have been a rude guest since you have been here. You're sole intent on being here is to be contrary and disrupt people who are trying to talk about their team.

If your parents raised you right, you would say, "I'm sorry I came to your house and insulted you all." If you stay and continue to be a rude guest, you are making a comment on your upbringing.

Look, I can understand your disappointment that the Dolphins screwed up yesterday and your team is in the toilet for the next few years. But don't take it out on us. Go crawl in a corner and lick your wounds, and be satisfied that you will at least be getting high draft picks for the next few years.

I think that the point made is well taken...do a detect a possible hint of racism in this as well?? Doesn't at all surprise me at all!!

I completely disagree. I enjoy the presence of Aqua4 on this board. We need to hear from fans of other teams too. No need for danny and others to throw insults around. It's childish.

I don't have a clue how legit it was - all I know is I watched Felger on the early edition and Curran on the late edition of NEST and barely heard anything about Meriweather's play.

What happened should be in the past until proven otherwise, compared to some other draftees (not of the Patriots, other teams), Meriweather's supposed transgresstions weren't THAT bad.

You don't even know me or the successes I've had.

According to your own words, you're an impoverished loser who cannot 'afford' to pay off on a public bet you lost here last season. You welched on a debt you owed to a charity, claiming you're a poor college student. You got the last 3 words right.
