3 kickers and 3 punters were drafted in the first 6 rounds of the draft. that is bad. Glad to see we got out and picked up a few more 1st day picks next year.

I'm certainly not as in depth into the draft as others here have shown to be but I've always had at least a knowledge of knowing who most people were.

This year, it seemed much, much earlier than normal that pick after pick I was saying, "Who?"

I can't believe the 49ers traded the Pats their 1st rounder next year. That could be the #5 pick next year.

It could be the #1 pick, but unless the 49ers suffer a lot of injuries I don't see it being lower than #20.

The 49ers are WAY overated. They had the 5th worst point differential in the league last year. They could improve from a few additions and young guys improving - which will be offset at least a little from Norv Turner's loss. But they have a LOT of improving to do to be a legit .500 team in an improving division.

thing is, they almost won the division last yr
prob should have (its funny the pick is in the same division as last yr)

what scares me is: alex (my look-a-like, seriously if he had brown eyes he'd be my clone) smith is another yr older, a healthy (maybe) vernon davis, gore a yr older, djack (i always liked him), manny lawson in his second yr, and nate clements
what doesnt scare me: they lost norv turner (YOUNG qb-this is very big news)

when all is said and done it prob wont be a great pick, but also prob wont be a terrible one
i think the 15-20 range is the most likely area (i think someone might have alluded to this earlier)

SF needs to finish around 12-4 and not go to the Superbowl for the Pats to see no improvement in draft position from #28. Obviously BB screwed up getting that 2008 pick and that wasted 4th rounder (or so you'd think from the people who've been celebrating so vigorously around here).

Only because Seattle lost it's QB and RB in a totally messed up season.

They mostly beat crap. Oakland. Minnesota. Detroit. Two wins against a mesed up Seattle. And two solid wins vs. St. Louis and Denver.

How many of them made the playoffs ? Just Seattle.

The last time that 3 kickers and 3 punters were drafted was in the very STRONG draft of 2004.

Prior to that, it was 1999. I am pretty sure that was a strong draft as well. McNabb, Holt, Edgerrin James, Champ Bailey, Chris Claiborne, Chris McAlister, Duante Culpepper, John Tait, Anthony McFarland, Jevon Kearse, Luke Petigout. And that is just the top 20 of the 1st round.

So, I really don't think you can use the number of kickers and punters drafted as a measure of how strong a draft is.

In fact, the 2005 draft, which was also a weak draft, had 3 kickers and 2 punters drafted. The 2002 draft also had 3 kickers and 2 punters..
