This offseason we have seen the Pats sign AD, Stallworth, Washington, and trade for Welker. Moss tore up his contract to come to the Pats.

I wonder what Asante is thinking ? If anything.

Assante could care less what those guys did. IMHO, he's worried about how much money goes in his own pocket.

we all know what hes thinking.............do I keep my mouth shut and have a REALLY good shot at a superbowl then get nate clements money or do I sit out and loose almost a million on the season

1. It's lose, not loose.

2. Almost a million? Try almost eight million.

"I can save money by switching to Geico."

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Or, "I could have had a V8?"

Depends.

If he's smart and can put his ego aside, he's either trying behind the scenes to work out a deal with the Patriots now that the Draft is over or he's thinking "I can earn a cool eight mill, get a ring and increase my value to the patriots or someone else. I have to take the risk of getting injured."

If he's not thinking clearly, he's thinking of holding out.

If he can put his ego aside, he's either trying behind the scenes to work out a deal with the Patriots or he's thinking worst case is I can earn a cool eight mill, get a ring and increase my value to the patriots or someone else.

If he's an idiot, he's thinking of holding out.

If he's willing to leave almost 8 million and a possible Superbowl ring on the table then he needs to get his head examined.

Asante should think that these guys are signing for team friendly deals, so should I.

I thing Samuel will be traded. I don't think he is worth 8 million for a guy who put up good numbers for 1 year.

He is going to pull a Branch and sit out. After all it is about the money.

If it is about the money he'll play. He's set to make far more this year than he has made in his entire career.

I had a labrador retreiver that was a great dog. He had a really inquisitive looking face, if that makes sense. He kind of scrunched it up in a way that gave him human like qualities and made it look like he was deep in thought. I used to wonder what he was thinking all the time. Then one day, I had an epiphany -- here's what he was thinking, 24 hours a day: "Food. Food. Food. Food. Food. Food. Food. Food. Food."

Here's what Asante is thinking: "Money. Money. Money. Money. Money. Money. Money."

People who expect Asante to suddenly become a team first guy need to read his tatoo. :rocker:

Exactly. Get Paid He didn't have that put on his arm with a magic marker.

You are comparing apples and oranges here.

Randy Moss took a pay cut because he could care less and wants to win before he retires in about 3 years or so, He has MUCH more money in his career than Asante has so far and this year is for a chance for Randy to win and show america he is more than a deadbeat and I congratualte him on the pay cut,It shows he may be more of a team guy than anyone here knew before...

Nothing like whats going on with Asante and his future,Asante is a stone cold big money grabber who could care less if any Patriot fan hopes he returns,He is a ME guy,Maybe Randy is going the other way now while Asante does an about face.

Asante should be thinking that he will play the season out at a top 5 CB salary, win a ring, and then try his hand at free agency

maybe Moss can explain to Asante that the money ain't worth it when you have no shot at title contention

I suppose, except the difference is that Randy Moss has made enough money to last a lifetime already in his career. Asante hasn't.

It's a rought sport where guaranteed money is everything. $7.whatever guaranteed is hardly chump change, but it's still an awful lot less than Moss has made in his career.

I'm thinking the cap money set aside to sign the 28th pick and the third round pick can now be used to either bump up Asante's long term deal and/or extend Warren? I can't imagine it's gonna take much money to sign all our 5th/6th/7th rounders and Moss didn't break the bank. Anyone have any insight?

IF the don't get a long term deal done,

I say, if he's smart, he'll shut up...... suck it up like many a franchise player before him, make his 8 mil, possibly contend for another ring and the take advantage of the opportunities he now has before him. The opportunity for another monster INT. year for him is there. He can afford to wait now. He'll get paid.

Think about it. more than 1/2 of his INTs last year came in times where they were well in the lead and the opposing QB was pressured to get cute and force crap throws in there tring to play catch up.

The pats now have the realistic ability to score on any given play from scrimage from any spot on the field and I imagine there will many "playing from behind" QB's that Asante will be facing this year. For a route jumper like him, that's money. I say, if he shut's his mouth, and plays hard. I say, he's good for another 10 INTs, if not more.

There is nothing better for a CB than facing a desperate QB trying to win a game from way behind. Look at SD last year.

He has been a model Patriot coming of an alltime year (10 INTs, plus 2 in the playoffs returned for TDs).

He is likely thinking that "I am a young man with a family, the course I take in the next 2-3 months will influence my entire life and offers a chance of financial security."

He wants to strike now while the iron is hot but may have to play for the franchise is 2007. His $500,000 per game paychecks will be more than he has made in any single season up to now.

I don't think he is sitting around his house giving a rats ass what the media or fans thinks of the situation. If the team was surveyed he would also have the support of every one of the players.

Lets just hope he plays otherwise our secondary takes a huge hit.
