I think the Pats are the NFL team Hated most of all in the country if you took a poll of every football fan and got a consensus.

I think the public was tired of us before because we have been a team with a consistent winning tradition this decade, but withstood a full out hatred because we usually did things with mostly quiet non trouble guys and won because the team played very hard and overachieved with mostly no name off the street into the lineup players.

Now we are signing players with BIG names but with bad pasts with criminal convictions like Drugs, other arrests ect; and I think now the public will hate us even more because now we appear more of a combination of the Raiders and Bengals personalities than the patriots team from earlier in the decade.

Don't get me wrong,I like the decisions and things we have done this year and could care less about what Tom **** and Jane did in years past because it probably makes us an even better overall with an All-Star team now instead of a 'who the hell are those guys team' from 2000-2006,even though those guys won 3 super bowls.

Get used to being a fan of America's Most Hated team - Personally I could care less, and in the immortal words of another owner whatever it takes,'Just Win Baby'.

This post is RIGHT on the money.

Listening to Sirius this morning and a Jets fan called bragging on his team's draft. However, he then adds 'I'm trying to enjoy what I feal was a successful draft and then those darned Patriots go out and get Moss. Every time I turn around the best franchise in the NFL keeps get better and it makes me sick'. I'm paraphrasing, but that was basically what he said, and the guys on Sirius just starting laughing.

When I'm sitting in Gillette in January for the AFC Championship enjoying good drink, good food, and good football I'll worry about what other fans/media think about the team(sarcastic). For those of us who suffered through the Kiam/Zeke days these are still the best of days(and teams), no matter what the likes of Felger and the curly headed boyfriend say.

Re: I guess you could say the Patriots are America's Most Hated now

Another point I was thinking when I just saw Moss's jersey advertised on pats.com was: Wasn't Moss's jersey one of the top sellers when he was in Minnesota and then when he was traded to Oak? According to this article it was http://www.810whb.com/scripts/archives/getStory.asp?article=10208 The question is why was he so popular, just because he was good or becasue of the silver and black? Does he draw these fans to him in NE? Just food for thought.

Jealousy will get you nowhere but home for the playoffs :)

how many times must I say IT'S NOT JEALOUSY.. It's FEAR... I think you have a really good shot this year and we sat and f'd ourselves on many many levels. The Parity, Free agency, Age clock was ticking and our front office jsut sat back.

If he behaves himself and gets another signing here for next year I can see him quickly becoming more of a fan favorite than Deion Branch and would sell far more jerseys once he if found to be a stable player
.Thats saying something because Deion's was one of the top sellers as far as Jerseys went during the mid-decade.

No doubt about it. I disagree about the level of hate before this offseason. I think the Patriots were hated by most fans of others teams, despite the Patriots attempts to build a high quality team.

So if we are going to be hated we might as well do it with style.

There isn't a single fan out there who wouldn't trade places with us in a second.

Wonder what his number is gonna be. Stallworth is 18, Watson is #84 and his college number was #88(K. Brady?)

Re: I guess you could say the Patriots are America's Most Hated now

Two ways it can go...

1) You sign who you want to sign (i.e., Dillon, for example,) and who gives a crap that you're "supposed" to get it done with "character guys," as long as they turn into character guys when they arrive. I don't give a crap if it's like that.

2) These guys transform the Pats, not the other way around, which I think is what the original poster is saying... to me, that's bull****. In the long run it's a matter of "building a team, not collecting talent." I don't think BB stops understanding that just because of one huge offseason.

Either way, yes, we are Americas Most Hated Team.

Caveat - by the way, this amazingly talented team can go the way of the Rams in 2000, if we don't behave like a less talented team.

It's not a matter of who these guys are, it's who this team is. I think this will be, in the sense of the word we're used to, a Patriots team. I'm pretty sure that's why we were winning without the big names, and living around DC, I'm pretty sure that's a way to lose even with the big names -- losing the team cohesion and team-first attitude.

I like being hated. It means you're doing something right. You don't hate bad teams.

My sentiments exactly. I remember hating those teams, but now, I love being on the other side!

Re: I guess you could say the Patriots are America's Most Hated now

Many in the NYC/NJ area are quite pissed off with us. They now compare us to a dying dynasty that is clutching at the few available straws before crumbling to dust and predict that it is now just a matter of time before we are humbled by others.

I just smile and keep quite because I agree with Rodney Harrison's comments earlier that no one wins SBs based on paper strength; what matters is what we do on the field. So, though I am elated that we now have a legitimate deep threat receiver that Brady has never had, I want to celebrate after we post a solid performance on the field.

Here's to welcoming Moss to the team and hoping that the team performs as a cohesive unit in the face of open scron shown by many.

The word you are looking for is jealous
That's why they all hate Duke in Basketball

Just be glad you got one before it all came crumbling down.

I mean, really, Indy won the battle, but compare their postseason successes and you realize why New England is still the better organization.

Amen brother

Re: I guess you could say the Patriots are America's Most Hated now

compare their postseason successes .....

As an Indy fan I ask: WHAT POST SEASON SUCCESSES???? Do you mean post regular season ? please clue me in as I wan't to enjoy them. Since the SB their has been NO successes in my book!!! I am sick about the whole thing.....enjoy your trip to Indy this year as I feel you won't be back for another 5 years. It took so long to climb the mountain against you guys and I feel our front office doesn't give a ****.
