Watching the BB press conference right now and he says that nothing has changed since a couple of weeks ago. Troy will still have a spot on the team.

dont no how theres gonna be room for him on this team at WR

IIRC he said something to the effect of they will find a spot for him. Whether that is on ST's, D, or receiver it remains to seen. I'm thinking BB will keep him around for the versatility.

Is there a link to the BB press conference?

Troy is the one guy who will have a spot as long as he wants it. He is the heart and soul of this team. And he single handedly extended our season last year.

It was live at the time. So I'd imagine in a few mins it will be archived under video on the homepage.

It's under the "media" section on the left side of the page.

Coach Brown sounds nice...I can see it now..hey coach, put down that clipboard, your going in.

The thread title is really misleading. Belichick did not say today, nor has he ever said, that Troy Brown will be back next year.

I believe he has said that if Brown wants to play and is able to play, the Patriots will find a role for him. I think both of those are still question marks for a 36 year old player coming off knee surgery.

Well, he had knee surgery, right? Sign him. PUP him. By mid-season, when we know what we have with Moss, Stallworth, etc, see if it is worth activating him. I am sure at least one of the new guys (assuming they all make the team) will have trouble learning the system or get the Foxboro flu if necessary.

troy will be back but BB never guranteed hed be here game 1..i think its competition still

Was that the guy that asked if BB knew how fast Moss was?

I just watched it on NFLN. That was funny. Tomase asked if BB had been able to confirm that Randy has not lost his speed. The looks on BB's face over the next 60 seconds were priceless. Then he asked Tomase if he wanted to get a watch go time him...He should have suggested a match race.

As for Troy what he said was Randy and Troy fill entirely different roles (ergo adding one or the other doesn't effect either).

With apologies to Kelvin Kight, we currently have 8 WRs who matter.

If neither Jackson nor Brown, in both cases due to injury, starts the season on the roster, that leaves six:

Randy Moss
Donte Stallworth
Wes Welker
Kelley Washington
Reche Caldwell
Jabar Gaffney

If 5 or 6 of those make it out of training camp, Brown and/or Jackson can join the roster later when the injuries hit.

The only thing is -- I bet they'd love to have Brown around in the offseason as a coach-on-the-training-field. He's always been great at that. And it would be particularly good for "the second best wide receiver to come out of Marshall."

Well, good problems to have.

No, what he said is barring the unexpected (which means his knee doesn't heal or something) he expects Troy to have a role on this team this season.

troy would be good to help get the new guys acclamated and add depth to all the spots that he adds to. Come back troy you deserve to be here when we hoist another trophey.

Who is the OP, and what post got deleted.

And why isn't your post quotable? I hit QUOTE and it doesn't grab your post

Someone is censoring me because I said BB was leaving at the end of the year.
