With the 208th overall pick, the patriots select JUSTICE HAIRSON

next pats pick is right now at 209

He is a pretty big back, if I'm remembering the right guy. About 225 I think. I'm okay with this choice...

War Room analysis
Strengths: Is strong and competitive, and keeps legs churning and fights for every yard. Is aggressive. Runs with good body lean, and gets his shoulder down to consistently knocks defenders backward. Is a smart and patient runner who follows blocks and cuts quickly off them. Is a smooth and fluid athlete. Shows good agility and quickness to make sharp cuts in the backfield to avoid defenders who shoot gaps. Shows the hands to handle off-target pitches.

Weaknesses: Lacks a quick burst through the hole. Lacks the explosiveness and speed to reach the corner. Rarely stays in the game in passing situations, so must not have good hands as a receiver.

Bottom line: Hairston, a three-year letterman at Rutgers before transferring to Central Connecticut State, has everything but ideal speed. He probably will not be drafted but could become an ideal backup.

Before Central: Lettered for three seasons at Rutgers University...Rushed for 696 yards and nine touchdowns...Had a stellar freshman campaign, rushing for 550 yards and eight scores...Played a season at Milford Academy...Former New Britain High star rushed for consecutive 1,000 yards seasons as a junior and senior...Had 1,147 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior, leading team to state title...Had 1,536 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior...Named All-State and All-Conference as a senior...Named Playoff MVP after rushing for 480 yards and six touchdowns in two playoff wins in his senior season.

This kid lead 1AA in rushing with over 1800 yards and 20 tds. He's also a very good athlete. Major sleeper pick...

FWIW, Scott Pioli is a CCSU graduate

Pioli saw him play against St. Francis - he had over 300 yards rushing.

From watching all Rutgers games in the last 5 years, I can say that this guy is a total bust. Never did anything worthwhile. If there was a huge hole open, then he would gain a couple of yards, but thats about it. Very weird pick, but I guess in BB we trust.

So you haven't seen him play since 2004? That's the last time he played for Rutgers. You could be right but maybe he makes the practice squad. We'll see.

In Bill we trust, however how can this guy be better than Darius Walker from ND. He is an excellent long term replacement for Kevin Faulk

I LOVE this pick, maybe our best pick besides Meriweather. Hairston is very athletic....the highest vertical of any RB, 4.47 at 220 pounds, second longest long jump, a very good athelete, and maybe our short yardage specialist. He really is a longshot, but ya never know, I'd love to see a local boy do well.

I would have liked Walker or Deshawn Wynn. But I'm still pretty okay with the pick. He could be a real short yardage great, given his size and jumping ability.

I think he may be a good back in time..certainly more the straight ahead inside runner,,a good pick!!

Scott Pioli is also a CCSU alum.

Short-yardage guy, including the dives into the end zone.

There was a USC player once who was pretty good at that sort of thing. Didn't he wind up on the Patriots? :)

I like him, too. We'll see if he turns out to be one of those diamonds on the rough. Also, NE could still get Darius Walker, Tyrone Moss, Jackie Battle, and some other RB's. I like this UDFA class.

well, apparently no one thought much of Darius Walker, as he has gone undrafted.

Big Physical Back..Change of pace kind of guy..

I like it, sounds like he will compliment our attack.

Thank goodness for the internet or we would likely know nothing about this guy. Sounds like the Pats stuck to their board and took the guy they wanted here. Definately an athlete, but another one of those picks that could had been done in the 7th or signed as an UDFA.

Sounds like a Brandon Jacobs clone.
