We had a shot at Denman from Fresno State, Siler from Florida. I just can not stand any of the 2nd day picks.

Can someone put my mind at ease?

Denman and Siler are names to us. Rogers and Oldenburg are names to the Patriots.

And they're the ones who have been scouting for a living since last July.

Two words: Randy Moss.

Just think about that, and let your worries evaporate into a big smile.

I feel the same. I'm pretty pleased with the Moss move, but still, the picks today have disappointed me. I know Siler is a great player having watched him for so many years now through high school and college, so to see prospects who I've either never heard of or can't justify logically going ahead of him happening is saddening. Brown was an ok pick, boom or bust in the 4th round is just fine, but these last two... especially the Rogers pick. I just can't see it.

Thank You. We need depth at lb and we have none. Thomas is a good fa pickup but the problem we had versus indy in the afcg was defense and lack of speed at LB>

So apparently there isn't a team in the NFL high on Siler, but YOU know he's a great player?

We'll see, I guess.

Plenty of teams weren't high on Tom Brady either. Lots were on Ryan Leaf. Or a billion other examples of teams missing on good players or jumping on terrible ones. NFL teams aren't infallible. I know they know more than me, but you could say the same about Miami's front office, but look at their first pick. I've seen Brandon for 6-7 years now, I know he has the skills, and more than that the heart and desire.

Siler was a poor fit for the 3-4 from the word go. The reports that he was seriously stuck on himself didn't read like a good fit professionally either.

Denman was described a stiff, Oldenberg who was selected at 171 is a former TE who was converted to OT, my best guess would be he's more athletic and mobile.

Justin Rogers has been on my late round LB conversion list for a while. He has prototype size and was a sack leader in Conference USA.

Mike Richardson had the fasted 3-cone in the draft and has decent size out of Notre Dame, I thought of him as the best of a shaky bunch back there.

Prescott Burgess - EDIT - my bad, typing and trying to follow the TV chatter I thought he was a Pat.

Justice Hairston is a productive RB who started at Rutgers and moved to Central Connecticut to keep playing, he ran up a storm against the lessor competition.

Corey Hilliard I can't recall what I read on him, but I had a favorable impression.

Oscar Lua, he's a bit small, but perhaps they expect him to bulk up or they want him for Special Teams.

take a zanax and go to bed

Siler is quickly becoming the 2007 board version of Ernest "The Shaze" Shazor...

Justin Rogers is supposedly an ILB prospect. As is Oscar Lua. Supposedly Seau is coming back as well...

QUOTE FROM PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY
has an inflated opinion of his ability and rubs some coaches wrong way.
very arrogant

This second day assures that we will have a competitive Practice Squad.:rocker:

Where did you hear that about Seau?

My brother lives in San Diego and Seau happens to go to Pacific Bech a bit... As do plenty of other Chargers...

Yeah, I get the feeling that the front office doesn't care much about who they've been picking today.

I do like Rogers though; and the two offensive linemen might prove useful.

The Pats have a very large and competent scouting department. I'm

sure they have a master list which rates the players regardless of position.

They will only move a few spots when they draft players. This is probably

why they have drafted two offensive lineman. With a weak draft like this

one probably only three or four of these players have a chance to make

the roster. The 8-10 undrafted free agents they will sign have even less

of a chance.

It won't be 8-10. After their next and final pick, there will only be 4 spots left, including NFLE exemptions.

I'll post the roster after the Pats pick at 247.

Actually I think they will sign 10 or so..with a few others in tryouts..the draftees DO NOT count until they are signed..so the UDFAs and others will be cut as the summer rolls on, training camp nears and the draftees sign contracts.

I think more see the draft as looking at the gloss and hype of it...Give me the flash..and they miss the meet and potatoes of it all..they want ALL the picks to be names everyone knows...as opposed to players who are going to be fitting into a system.. I also think the team was looking more for developmental players as opposed to starters..why pay big money to players who may not start?? OR even fit into a system..
