Next Pats Pick Is At 202 Overall

Re: Pats Take De Justin Rogers With Pick 180

Are we planning on turning these guys into LBs or something? Our front three is already stacked.

From Sporting News (32nd ranked DE overall)...

War Room analysis
Full evaluation coming soon.

Well, that's good. They didn't even bother to put up an evaluation of him prior to the draft.

He's 6'3", weighs 252, ran a 4.76. Definitely a linebacker conversion project.

Rogers is farthest left. He looks like a LB.

He can spend his weekends with Mankins, roping cattle and skinning coyotes. :)

Scouts put him as an ILB. Probably projects to NFL there even if he played D-line in college. He is 260, but ran terribly at some pro day or something, 4.9+ times. Not good.

He is probably faster than that, and he might have back-up inside linebacker potencial.

EDIT: And this kid is supposed to be better than Brandon Siler? A mutli year team leader down here on the National Champion Gators? Siler is a wonderful tackler, plays hard and with passion. I don't get it...

He's listed on the NFL Draft Tracker as an OLB.

The guy to his immediate right looks just like Adalius Thomas.

He's been on my late round LB list for some time, good productive kid.

I thought the exact thing.

Re: Pats Take DE Justin Rogers With Pick 180

Last year we brought in Mincey, Woods, Mays and Roach. This guy has at least as much chance as any of those did last year. I would note that both UDFA Woods and UDFA Mays are still on the squad. After the middle of fifth, all are longs shots, except perhaps Sters and 3rd string QBs.

ESPN.com has him listed as ILB. I think this is the type of guy they look for to play LB. All this talk this past week about the Pats looking for speedy guys with great sideline to sideline speed like a Beason was all bunk. The Pats love these converted DEs who are big, strong guys who can take on blocks by o-linemen.

I'm betting they are going to try to groom this guy to be a potential future replacement for Bruschi.

A 6th round LB is better than none, I guess.

Something must be up for Siler, maybe he failed a drug test, injury issue or something else came out. Sounds like the DT from Texas (Rodrique Wright) that fell last year, Miami gabbed him in round 7.

We started in the 6th last year. We ended up with two on the playoff roster.
