I have had some reservations about B. Merriweather as an NFL prospect, but all that is now meaningless. When a player joins the Patriots I consider him a member of "The Family" and will defend him to the hilt unless his actions and/or performance from this point forward prove indefensible. Welcome aboard B. Merriweather! And congratulations Remix and Sebman, who must feel happy as pigs in $hite right now.:)

na uh. not a bigger fan than me.

this guy is the next ed reed i think the best S in the draft

guess his nickname is "Old School"

I'd like to note for posterity that, yes, I did quote JoeSixPat's post hours before he actually posted it. Let no one on this board ever doubt my prescience again!

Meriweather is pretty quick coming up to the line on both blitzes and run support. He looks like a natural. So... assuming he stays out of trouble the real question is - who will have bigger hair, Maroney or Meriweather? Stay tuned! :D

I was leery of Meriweather's character at first but if BB feels "comfortable" with taking him then I'll trust BB on this one.

So drafting Meriweather can be considered "Kicking it 'Old School'"? Hope he doesn't plan on kicking any players in at the pro level... is it bad to say his head stomp reminds me of Albert Haynesworth?

That wasnt just Meriweather, how about the guy who throws his helmet at one of the other dudes. Great fight, Miami whooped their ass in it. Go Meriweather!

As Brandon's new biggest fan, you'll need to learn to spell his name. Meriweather doesn't have a double R.

I was a declared fence-sitter on Meriweather, though Sebman's enthusiasm was slowly bringing me around! But regardless, welcome to the Patriots...and let the speculation begin.

Do you see a 2007 starting role for Meriweather? Can he send Wilson to nickleback?

I trust BBs judgement 100%. One thing Meriweather has going for him is that the greater Foxboro area is not an easy place to find yourself in a bad situation, compared to Miami, Dallas, or some other places he could have landed. I'm still not convinced he's got first-round talent, but I eagerly await him proving me wrong this season.

LOL, nice pic. I believe that Meriweather is sporting the dreads these days so we're going to see the locks hanging outside the helmet, same as Maroney.

Yeah this one's more recent, but who knows what his hair will look like after the rookie hazing.

I just don't understand the whole "character" issue!

Yes, he wasn't too smart getting involved in that fight on the football field. However, that was a one time incident and involved his whole team.

As for shooting at an assailant, to me that is just plain smart. I want players on my team that can protect themselves and thier friends.

I think sometimes the whole "character" issue is brought up just so people have something to talk about. Obviously there ARE people with serious character issues. Meriweather is not one of them.
