They were coming off of a Super Bowl and traded their 2000 1st rounder to Baltimore to get a 2nd rounder in 1999 and ended up taking a TE that did nothing.

They ended up tanking. The Ravens had the 5th pick in the draft and selected a man by the name of Jamal Lewis.

You just never know guys. At worst, we get the #32 pick in a stronger draft. At best, we have a great high pick.

Sure it's disappointing now. I sure don't want to wait so long for the next pick. It might be a fantastic move after next year though.

If we only focused on this year, this year, now, now, now, Vince Wilfork wouldn't be on this team.

Precisely.

I can't believe how impatient some of us have been.

If anything, this is a confirmation that the Pats and Beioli will be around for awhile.

Remember Pioli's mission statement: "To build a team that CONSISTENTLY competes for CHAMPIONSHIPS."

The New England Patriots are not short-sighted.

God you guys are refreshing.

All the talk about this year's draft was how weak it was. How most of the talent was second round at best, and there were only about 18 first round picks. Barring a 49ers miracle season, we are getting a 30th pick or better in what will most likely be a stronger draft.

I wanted a LB too, but maybe that stud is in next years draft. Who knows?

Ok, I'll bite.

Will BB and co. ALWAYS be around? No.

Will Brady always be around? No.

He's getting up there, the whole team is hitting the prime time. The time to load up and move out is now. Also, TB is on his last leg. How do we groom a replacement now?

BINGO!!! You are indeed right. people are getting inpatient because they have to wait until round 3 for the next pick and they aren't getting immediate gratification. It's ridiculous. I'd rather suffer through a long wait and reap the benefits of victories on sundays

No, no it isn't.

That isn't how the Patriots have EVER worked. They haven't, aren't, and will NEVER work on a "window" philosophy.

How many times do I have to say it. The objective of the New England Patriots is to build a team that "CONSISTENTLY competes for CHAMPIONSHIPS."

They're not going to stop that just for their fans can have something to do during the second round of a draft.

Well, when Brady retires, they can have fun planning for the future then too.

I'm not gonna bash our FO that much, but I just wanted a more aggressive draft.

I'd be happier if they'd signed "Get Paid" already.

But a high pick in next year's draft could easily contribute as quickly as a low first-rounder from this one. And there's nothing they're not addressing in the draft that can't be handled in FA instead.

So far into the offseason, the big LB changes are AD in and TBC out. Who here expected MORE in the way of total immediate contribution from all LB moves combined than that?
