so, considering they are both there
who do you take
beason seems to be rated higher on other teams boards
so we would prob have to take him at 24
whereas we could take someone else at 24 and take harris at 28 prob
pretty much everyday i change my mind on diff guys i want
whats funny is i absolutely hate the U (even though my sis went there) and love umich (even though they deferred me yrs ago, and then said no thanks), but i kinda think i like beason better
but as i said before, my mind could completely change tomorrow
so, who would you take to hopefully hold down one of those inside linebacker spots for the foreseable future?
and why?

I gotta take Harris, I think he fits the system. I agree with you though, my thoughts change everyday on all the players in the draft.

I'm feelin Harris as of right now, though.

somethin that bothers me bout harris
i dont watch much college football
but the one team i watch at least a few games of is michigan
i always liked him
but i never once said, wow id love to see him in a pats uni
now, lamar woodley on the other hand...

something that bothers me about harris
is the fact that so many "experts" say he doesnt have much upside
and that hes a "solid" type
but usually "solid" types are amazing tacklers
and while hes a pretty sure tackler, a lot of the time he lets the hit come to him and gives up that extra one-two yards
that worries me

beason we all know how good miami lbs turn out in the nfl

Beason at 6-0, 237 is to small for us. BB likes his player versatile and I think Harris fits that mold.
As of right now, I feel we go Safety and OL with our first two picks..

Harris' biggest weakness is pass coverage. It's actually somewhat of a liability for him. He's a beast in the run game, but needs significant work on his coverage. Beason, on the other hand, is a very well rounder player. Has speed, and putting on weight isn't really an issue for players these days. Not to mention he has a grasp of two-gap systems.

If Beason is there, he's the clear choice. Harris would be a good fit also, just not as much as the former.

I really don't know what Beason has going for him in this argument. He's never played inside in the 3-4, he's too short, too light, with short arms. Of the two, he's played against worse competition for a worse team.

Maybe people are enamored with a perceived edge in athleticism? Or figure since Dan Morgan and Jonathan Vilma came from Miami, Beason will be as good?

The fact NE has shown so much public attention to Beason is a smoke screen imho.

I think they just hope their man david harris is there @ 28.

This isn't an either/or situation, as they play DIFFERENT positions, both of which have open positions on the Patriots.

SILB: TJ/ Phife replacement

WILB: Beason (or Poz), Tedy's heir apparent

solution: draft both! :singing:

Harris is more of the pure ILB that the Pats need. We already have AD/Colvin/Vrabel on the outside so someone like Harris could fill the Seau role much better than Beason could.

The only upside I see is that Beason would be a better special teamer during the time he is being groomed into a starter.

oh, i know this
thats why i gave the option for both, lol

Given the choice of Harris v. Beason, my choice is Harris. I also choose Timmons over Beason. But I choose The Poz over all of the above. Alas, I fear that The Poz will be gone by 24.

From all the talk this morning it does look like Harris or Beason at #24. I'm hoping that Beason is gone so it doesn't come down to that, but what do I really know.

From listening to Michael Holley on WEEI I worry that the LB position is being overrated here. Last year was a deep class of LBs. This year is just the opposite IMO. Patrick Willis is the top guy, but put in last year's class & he probably goes some where late in the 1st round. These other guys probably don't even get a sniff at round 1. So unless Patrick Willis slips some how then I don't wanna hear the Pats selected a LB at #24.
