on the lines of the "Be Honest - Who did you predict..." thread.

In the Belichick era, going into the draft, were there players you targeted and wished they had picked, and they are still out there in the NFL?

since every year i have wanted them to get some young studs at LB I kind of wince whenever I see Jonathon Vilma or E.J.Henderson playing well, although to be honest i cant complain about the Belichick-Pioli track record one bit.

I liked Denver's CB Domonique Foxworth and thought he would have fit in well in the Pats system (smart, good instincts) and he was a 3rd rounder....
I posted to that effect pre-draft but can't find the thread.. No really, I did.....

DJ Williams

Ed Reed...They had the chance after moving up in 2002...

pretty much any young LB...Manny Lawson, EJ Henderson, Boss Bailey, Vilma, Barrett Ruud, the list goes on....

In 2003 Osi Umenyiora (2nd rounder) or Cato June (sixth round)

BOB SANDERS.

I wanted that guy bad. We decided to stay put that round and draft Marquise Hill.

WooHooo!

Ed Hartwell in 2001 (instead of Brock Williams)
Larry Foote in 2002 (instead of Rohan Davey)
Anquan Boldin in 2003 (instead of Anquan Boldin)
Nathan Vasher in 2004 (instead of Marquise Hill or Guss Scott)

Most memorable is Sean Jones who went to Cleveland in the second round after we picked Watson. He was my guy for months leading up to that draft. I would still pick him!

Didn't know there were 2 Anquain Boldins in the NFL and we had one :D

Didn't he get hurt in like training camp and miss his entire first season?

2001 - I wanted the Pats to draft RB Deuce McAllister or WR David Terrell.
2003 - I wanted WR Stallworth, DT Haynesworth, TE Daniel Graham or S Ed Reed
2004 - I wanted RB Steven Jackson really bad before and after they traded for Corey Dillon with their first first round pick. For their second first round pick, I wanted OLB Karlos Dansby.
2005 - I thought the Pats were going to have a shot at CB Marlin Jackson and they team just missed out on him. Also, I wanted either G David Baas, S Brodney Pool, or CB Justin Miller.
2006 - This was great - I wanted both RB Maroney and WR Chad Jackson and the Pats read my mind!
2007 - I'm clueless right now. I have no idea who could drop to them. This might be the most unpredictable draft I have ever witnessed. I want S Reggie Nelson, S Michael Griffin, CB Chris Houston, T Joe Staley, DE/OLB Jarvis Moss, DE/OLB Anthoney Spencer, ILB David Harris, RB Lorenzo Booker, RB Michael Bush, WR Dwayne Jarrett, WR Anthoney Gonzalez, WR Steve Smith and CB Aaron Ross. This is just a list of players I would like the Pats to pick from.

Boss Bailey! he was another one i forgot about. I drooled whenever i saw his highlight films. a LB who moved like a safety, or visa versa.
I wanted them to draft him bad. But didnt he go way before they picked??

I want to say he went in either the first or second round to the lions, so it was early in the round....

Don't even get me started on Mark Anderson in the 4th round last year....

:violent:

Stinky,

You nailed it. Imagine how many more SBs they would have won with that crew onboard!

Yeah, the luck of the Brownies. All their big signings/ draft picks come up lame. He played like an absolute stud this past year.

I LOVED sanders coming from iowa.
If he had the size he would have been a top 5 pick.
But at 5"8 205 he's smallish.
He jumped like 41" ran a sub 4.4
Tackles well, and plays the pass well.
And we've seen how well he enforces against the run.
Has earned the nickname missile.

He fell out of the first and was drafted with the second pick in the 2nd round. Turned out the fall was with good reason, as Bailey's been very average, at best.

But yes, I wanted Boss Bailey at #19 that year.
