If you said Richard Seymour then your in the same company as these guys.

Compares To: Richard Seymour, New England -- Carriker is more suited to play like Seymour does in the 3-4 alignment -- out on the edge as a run stuffer and inside as a pass rusher. He has outstanding strength and size, but needs to develop better hand usage in his attempts to disengage. He does a good job of splitting double-teams and does a good job of keeping his feet when moving through trash. He won't spend most of his time chasing down quarterbacks; he doesn't have the explosive closing speed. But he is very effective at pushing blockers back into the pocket. With his size/strength combination, using him as anything outside of the way Seymour plays would be wasting his athletic ability.

Other comparison:
Paul Posluszny = Tedy Bruschi
Patrick Willis = Dan Morgan
Desmond Bishop = Larry Foote
Jon Beason = Mike Peterson
Zak DeOssie = Mike Vrabel (if thats the case i'd take him in the 3rd)
Lawrence Timmons = Thomas Howard
Anthony Spencer = Shaun Phillips (dam thats a good comparison)
LaMarr Woodley = Darryl Tapp
Quentin Moses = Jason Taylor (really?!?!?)
Laron Landry = Brian Dawkins
Brandon Merriweather = Ed Reed
Reggie Nelson = Brian Dawkins (2 players one comparison  )
Michael Griffin = Mike Minter

i always felt a lil like ty warren
strong
great against the run
best suited for 3-4 end
however, i think carriker might be a better 4-3 tackle than warren
both can get to the qb, but not their specialty, but def have the ability to do it, and when theyre asked get it done

Laron Landry looks more like a Sean Taylor to me - Hits like him too

hmm garret wolfe=dave meggett
i have felt that if we want another kfaulk he's our guy
if he turned into a meggett, i think that last statement is pretty right on

mike walker=greg jennings???
kinda weird that walker (a guy i want this yr is compared to THE guy i REALLLLLY wanted last yr)
however, i dont really see the comparison
walker is more of a possession type guy
and jennings is def quicker than walker
yes walker had a great timed speed, but i dont really see him being extremely elusive
the one thing they do have in common is they are both great at the intermediate routes

Brandon Merriweather = Ed Reed

the more i watch merriweather the more i like him
and im actually starting to switch (last minute ;) ) from wanting nelson to wanting merriweather

Zak DeOssie has gotten more press than a lot of 2nd rounders, not to mention the 3rd-5th rounds he's projected in.

I'd love to get him, but I think another team will swipe him up early.

Carriker is very athletic for a DT, but not fast enough for a 4-3 DE. So despite his "2-gapping" in college he will have to make a position change to excel in the NFL. Players who must change positions between college and the NFL always have some doubt attached to them. For the first time, he will have to mix it up in the trenches with players just as strong or stronger than he. I think he can do it, but there should be a transition period similar to what Warren went through in '03. But the team Carriker goes to may not have a Bobby Hamilton ease him in gently. Carriker may be thrown into the fire as a top 10 pick and expected to excel in unfamiliar terrain. Because of that, I will not be surprised if Carriker struggles a bit early on. If he can get through that adjustment period without injury, than he will sail into year 2. I think Branch is a safer pick, provided he has been cleared medically. Carriker may have a higher ceiling but a lower floor.

Carriker looks to me like Ty Warren.

Nelson to Dawkins comparsion is terrible.

Landry = Dawkins thats good but Nelson is completely different.

Landry and Dawkins arent flashy..are in position..make plays and hit hard.

Nelson is a ballhawker..questions about run support..nothing to indicate hes a leader.

Nelson reminds me of Chris Gamble (who was drafted #28 by Carolina). I think he should play CB. Natural hands for the int, good size, technique will take time but has the footspeed and quickness, plus is willing in run support for a cb. A project year 1, a good #2 cb year 2, with #1 potential by year 3.

Call him Warren or call him Seymour......if he is still there at 28 - do we take him and groom him to replace either Ty W. or RS as we won't be able to afford to pay both of them and Wilfork in a few years??

Would not surprise me one bit!

While many would agree with you i think taking him away from his S spot would take away much of his potential.

HE lays out big hits and covers tons of ground as a safety and by making him a CB your taking away both of those aspects.

BB has always put an emphasis in having your best players on the line. If Carriker is there he will take him and find some way to fit him in.

Kind of like Marquise Hill :)

I think that would be unwise, given the needs we have on defense...
