Only 2 #1 Cbs in this draft

In this draft I see two potential #1 caliber CBs, Revis and Hall. Bennett has a chance to make it as a #2 starter, and Wade is teetering on the edge. Beyond them there is alot of risk and not alot of reward. Late rd sleepers who in time could develop into #2 cbs: William Gay, Louisville, and CJ Wilson, Baylor. I also would take a look at Tyron Brackenridge of Washington State as a UDFA, and hope to catch lightning in a bottle (or in his case, molasses).

Houston can make a very good #1..McCauley might if he plays up to most of his potential..the CB class is strong IMO .. a lot of guys supposed to be first rounders.

I think this CB class is loaded with potential #2's. McCauley, Wilson, Ross, etc.

I don't like Houston. He reminds me too much of Ahmad Carrol. I want nothing to do with him.

being like Carroll isnt a bad thing..doesnt mean he'll end up like him because he has similar style of play. CArroll never panned out but had a load of ability

I'd agree that there's a big dropoff after Revis and Hall. I think that Josh Wilson will be a strong pro and a solid draft pick, but maybe not a true #1 corner. And McCauley has the tools but is a walking question mark. Of course, somebody else will eventually emerge in the NFL -- A Jonathan Wade or Courtney Brown, perhaps -- but I wouldn't risk a 1st on any of them.

It's been interesting watching Chris Houston's dramatic arc over the course of the draft season. He wasn't talked about as a 1st-round talent until his amazing combine. After that he started popping up in every round-1 mock, with whispers like "challenging to be the first CB off the board." Now those whispers are dying down, and you start to read things like this from Rob Rang a few days ago:

Houston is another big-name player who scouts have begun to question a bit as they are able to distance themselves from the Combine and review more film....Scouts for some teams drafting in the late first round and looking for cornerback help, are giving Houston second- or even third-round grades. Most often, the comments scouts have is that while Houston is physically blessed, his lack of instincts and playmaking skills (only three interceptions of 22 passes defensed) make him a surprising liability. Add Aaron Ross as another guy I would not be surprised to see slide quite a bit. Good measurables, but what has he done in college to warrant being a #1 pick? I like Josh Wilson better than both of them, and I'm not sure even HE is a #1 pick.

I expect only 2 CBs to be taken round 1, Hall and Revis. I would not be surprised if a team, looking for a CB, opts for Meriweather over Houston and Ross.

How about AJ DAvis?

nfl.com and espn say great things about him, have him as a 3rd/4th round pick. SI has him as a 6th rounder.

He sounds pretty good.

Courtney Brown of Cal-Poly is another with alot of ability and is raw but learning quickly, supposedly.

Revis, I've heard is not really as much of a quick twitch type and gives up some cushion.

actually as soon as houston declared everyone said hes right there behind Hall..his combine got him publicity but many who watch college football knew he was a 1st rounder.

If DeAndre Jackson can reclaim his pre-injury form I think he could be a No. 1 CB for NE, but that's a big if since he's coming off an ACL. If you got to watch him play he's a pretty good CB, and probably fits NE's defense better than some of the higher rated CB's.

Really, my favorite CB for NE is Revis. I also really like Josh Wilson. Jonathan Wade is good, but I like Wilson more, and think he's been more consistant. Obviously I like Leon Hall, but I think he's a bit overrated. McCauley was one of my guy's before his senior dropoff. Seriously, I thought he might be the best CB in the country going into the season, and I thought he was the best fit for NE's defense, but with his dropoff I'm not sure about him. If I was going by 2005 he'd be among my favorites, but I don't know for sure that he'll reclaim that form. Honestly, if he had played at that level during his senior campaign NE probably wouldn't have a shot at him, since he'd be a top 15 pick. If I was BB and Pat Hill gave me the OK I'd grab him in a heart beat, but none of us know what Pat Hill actually thinks of the guy.

You don't like him? Well, he shut down the top WR prospects in this years draft. Standout's such as Dwanye Bowe, Robert Meachum and Dwayne Jarrett. Everything thrown his way, he knocked down. He's a very confident player and believes no offensive player will beat him one on one. I would love to see the Pats draft him in the first round.

He's a very confident player and believes no offensive player will beat him one on one. I would love to see the Pats draft him in the first round.

Rice tore him up. I thought Jarrett was injured or maybe Meachum was when he went up against him. Doesn't come down with many ints either.

Kind of a project from what I've heard.
