Jets aren't going to let the Pats take their corner and the Chiefs know they can drop two spots and get their receiver (Bowe or Meachem).

No brainer?

Who could that corner be, Chris Houston or Aaron Ross.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out. If the Jets move ahead of the Pats, take a corner and the Pats don't take a corner in the following pick, I'll have to believe that the Jets took the Pats guy.

Mangini - secondary coach with the Pats, drafted/developed Samuel/Gay/Hobbs/etc, bad blood between the two teams and a need for a corner for both teams.

How do you know they are taking a CB in the first?

I think there's a decent chance they might, especially if Revis is still on the board, but I'm not at all sure they're going CB in the first.

In all the years of being a Pats fan and watching them draft, there is no way to know who they might pick up with any pick, especially in the Belichick era. For example, I never woud had thought that the Pats would draft Chad Jackson (and maybe they shouldn't have), take numerous tight ends and not take a linebacker on the first day in the last three-four years.

Personally, I like Anthony Spencer somewhere in the Pats first round, but I don't think that is a need. What are their needs? Inside linebacker, safety and corner. Depth on both lines is always key and a decent low round QB.

There aren't many first round inside linebackers, safety would logically be the pick in the first round, followed by corner considering the talent and the location of the picks.

Nelson still on the board, I think the Pats go with Nelson.

Merriweather and Griffin on the board when the Pats pick first, I think they go corner IF their guy is there. I don't know who their guy is and I hope it isn't Chris Houston. I vote more for Ross than Houston and Revis I doubt will be there, so I don't have to cast my dissenting vote there. I really feel that the draft has more depth of talent in the secondary and teams picking from the mid first to the mid second will look that way (see all above and McCauley, Wilson, Rouse, etc).

IF the Jets move ahead, it is only because they are afraid of missing out on their corner. The Pats, in my opinion, have alternative options in the draft, but I feel that the Jets want to get their corner in the first (and likely a couple later picks too).

Interesting that neither has really tipped the others off in terms of who they have had visit them team.

If nothing else, I think there will be something interesting going on behind the scenes with the Pats and Jets picking back to back.

Jets need lb's too. Might jump ahead of us if they think we are going to draft a lb they covet. Maybe for a guy like A.Spencer. Pats could go; cb
s, ilb or olb. Any of those 4 positions are ok with me. I'd be surprised if we went for offense in Round 1 this year.

I'm thinking that Denver could be interested in Vilma. They just cut Al Wilson. They have Vilma's U teammate in DJ Williams. It's not a good draft to find a replacement for Wilson. DE is deep and can easily be addressed with an Abiamiri at 56 over a Moss or Spencer at 21.

Is the 21st pick equivalent in value to Vilma? It seems that Briggs is being valued at around the 19th pick. Vilma's on a rookie deal for two more years.

If that were to happen, the Jets would pick in front of us twice and I think they might target Justin Harrell and David Harris in the first round.

I actually think that fair value would be Vilma and a 2008 4th for the 21st and 86th pick in this draft. If it were to happen, I think it would happen during the draft if Ginn is gone by 21. Shanahan is to offense what Belichick is to defence and I think he would love to use this gimmick (Ginn Jr.) in his Cutler friendly offence next year.

Safe bet that the Broncos would be interested in Vilma, as would most of the other 30 teams in the league. I just don't see the Jets trading arguably their best defensive player for an unknown.

I hope they do.
Any teams that trades up because they believe another team MIGHT take there player will not have a successful draft year in and out.
Too many variables and 1 trade can change the whole round.

Did I miss something here? It's Pats 24, Jest 25, Pats 28 right now. . . .

I didn't mean to suggest that that was the reason they would trade into the 21 position. Obviously, they'd do it because they see value in the 21st pick and have rumoured interest in replacing Vilma at LB.

Yes, but don't worry because I just explained my point poorly. In fact, it was so poorly explained, that I can't really remember what it was.

There was a lot of talk about the jets wanting to draft TE Greg Olsen, but the Patriots would draft him out of spite.

I doubt that the Patriots would want TE Olsen anyway but you never know...

Here is my bold draft prediction:

24. (S) Griffin: a no brainer..
28. (LB) David Harris or (LB) LaMarr Woodley: both rising

The Jets will be drafting Olsen not only because they need a TE, but he has the marketing potential of Shockey. There is a lot of money to be made off the field if they draft Olsen.

I think the Jets may trade up for Revis or Houston. If they don't trade up, I think they may take LB Beason out of Miami if the Pats don't take him of course. Ever since Magini has been the Jets Head Coach he has been trying to "outsmart" the Pats or screw them over in some way (Branch situation last year, signing Matt Chatham and bringing in Randall Gay for no reason). Honestly, I could really care less who the Jets take in Round 1, because the Jets aren't the Patriots and as long as Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are around, the Jets will be second best.

David Harris would be a huge reach at #28. The only way I see the Pats taking him is if no other safeties, corners or offensive tackles of value are on the board. It's too bad the Pats don't have a second round pick because Harris would fit in nicely right there.

Good call on Revis.

Looks like the Jets wanted their corner, but I don't think Revis was someone the Pats were looking at. I was afraid they wanted Ross and that KC wouldn't mind moving down a spot or two to get their wide out. Didn't think New Orleans would had taken a WR.
