It's an insider article so I'll just put a few notes :

CB Eric Wright looks like Round 3 at earliest.

S Brandon Merriweather has no one big concern but several small things worriesome.

LT Joe Thomas falling a little due to run blocking.

Pats' DC Dean Pees went to Kent State to work out CB Usama Young who's moving up fast.

WR Anthony Gonzalez cound end up low in first round.

LB Paul Posluzny could be headed to the Steelers.

Wright a round 3 at earliest? Yeah right..hes late 1st at earliest

not HUGE..he had an incident and nothing since he left USC if im correct.
He's off my board for the Patriots. He didn't have "an incident". Possible rape (not charged), hundreds of ecstasy pills in his apartment that were "his rooomates" ?

No thanks.

I agree, if I'm setting the Pats board, Wright is not on it. Too much risk.

Did Scouts says why they think Posluzny is headed to the Steelers?????

Still only a small part of the article so I guess it's OK to post a piece :

"While it is difficult for us to believe, the name of Penn St. LB Paul Posluszny continues to surface when we inquire about the Pittsburgh Steelers. Several weeks ago, a source intimate with the franchise told us Posluszny may be "too much football player for the Steelers to pass up." The same source again confirmed Posluszny to be the Steelers first-round pick earlier this week. To make the story all the more fascinating, a separate source agreed with the connection between Posluszny and the Steelers, going as far as saying the Steelers perceived interest in Florida St. LB Lawrence Timmons may just be a smoke screen. Posluszny would play inside for the Steelers if they drafted him and would challenge for playing time behind starters Larry Foote and James Farrior whose contract is up after the 2008 season. Foote's is up after 2009."

Thanks,

I find it interesting that they would think Posluzny could play inside for them.

That interests me too, although what i like about Poz is that he has experience both inside and outside. Not sure if he is big enough for our system, but if the Pats select him I would not be disappointed even though he seems like a Boom or Bust player and far from a sure thing.

I think after a year or two with Woicik, he'll end up big enough to play inside for us.
But why use a 1st rounder on a guy that can't help the base defense as a rookie.

Why do you think he couldn't help the base defense as a rookie?

I understand that the position, and the defense, is difficult to master in a short period of time, but if any rookie LB can do it, the Poz can.

Besides, we desperately need to become younger, and more talented, at ILB, so we might as well start the process one week from tomorrow afternoon.

Based on the NFL.com roster http://www.nfl.com/teams/rosters/PIT the Steelers have Farrior and Foote listed as 243 and 239 respectively. With Porter still listed there, that roster has only two LBs who come close to the Pats' prototype. Perhaps that's why Vrabel never moved off Special Teams? Too much LB for their scheme.

Posluzsny at 238 would make more sense if those weights are legitimate and the Steelers system is that different from the Pats.
