On Sirius Radio today Pat said he will not say who the representative or the team is who emailed him and says Anthonny Gonzalez was perfect for his team but then he came off and said the main 2 teams interested in Gonzalez services are the Patriots and Colts which likely means ONE of these teams was the one that emailed him and wants to pick him up in the draft.

Could it be the Patriots at 28? - The Colts at 32?

I say it was Polian who emailed Kirwin,The Patriots usually keep it hush of who they are seriously interested in.

Would be a good pickup with Harrison getting no younger and new blood on that team - I say it was the Colts who are the main interest here and Gonzalez may very well be their 32nd pick - I don't think it was the Patriots,A WR should not be a major issue on day one of the draft anyways.

Why would either team want him? The Colts lost 3/4 of their starting DBs, and they still have Harrison-Wayne-Clark. They only have one pick in the first 95 or so. Why the heck would they use it on a receiver?

The Pats I can understand a little, but they already have a logjam at WR.

For both teams, a DB would be a good choice in round one. For the pats, a DB and a LB.

I fully expect the Colts to draft a WR in the first round. Clark is a TE, nothing more - despite what our mostly backups made him look like. They have two WR and one TE - and they need to bring a WR in now so he'll be ready to go in a year when Harrison has to start slowing down and his contract becomes unmanagable.

Don't forget, this is the same Kirwan who suggested a couple of weeks ago that the Pats could . . .

**New England: Ryan Kalil, C, USC -- With two first-round picks and a very aggressive offseason in the free-agency market, the Patriots can afford to take the highest-rated center and not worry about the position for a very long time.

Yeah, it makes as much sense to me as it does to you, I'm sure.

Actually, the Colts could use a good young receiver. The problem is, they really need a DT, an LB and a DB -- in fact, a couple of them. And they don't have a lot of premium picks. Even if they love Gonzalez it will be very, very hard for Indy to go offense in the 1st.

They have to keep Peytey's weapons strong so he'll be "the best ever". They have no #2 . . . it's a strong WR draft, write it down they're taking a WR #1.

Or it could be someone from the Pats sending a smokescreen - in order for the Colts to think he's our man at #28 so they'll try to swap picks with us. We drop down to #32 and get the man who we wanted all along, while also acquiring a 3rd rounder from Indy.

Polian is a fixture on the NFL network, so I can see him waving the Anthony Gonzalez flag. For what purpose, I don't know. You don't advertise they guy your going to pick before the draft.

I would love to see him go to the Pats, but not in the first round. A flier in the second would be best, but (as we all know) they don't have a second round pick.

IMO, Gonzalez is the cleanest WR, not named Calvin Johnson, in the entire draft.
If this were 2006, I would take him over Chad Jackson.
However, as long as Aaron Ross, Michael Griffin, David Harris and the Poz are available at 24 and 28, I won't choose Gonzalez ahead of them.
I hope that he doesn't go to the dolts, because I don't want to root against him.

Yeah, lord knows we need a good center, lol......I guess he forgot we have Koppen locked up for a while.

The more you watch OSU games, the more Gonzo stands out. Now it could be because teams focused on Ginn on the other side, which if your team has a #1 WR, makes Gonzo even more attractive, because Gonzo has done well as a #2. Very easy to project Gonzo excelling in the Pats system as the WR playing the opposite side; if we still had Branch.
