And I still haven't seen it. A week ago, I felt it was imminent. Now, I'm starting to wonder.

Dont get me wrong. If Samuel holds out, I fully expect Gay and Hobbs to be our starting CBs. But, I know that BB/SP would take a 2nd for him, and I believe that the Jets will see him as decent value for a 2nd. This may still happen, but each passing day makes is me wonder, "Well, what are they waiting for?"

I sure hope so.

You'd be better off checking to see if you've won mega millions.

There is no way possible that Samuel holds out.

He can get royally screwed if he does.

Re: Every day I check PatsFans, expecting to see that the Jets have signed Randall Ga

Len Pasquarelli of ESPN wrote on his Insider Tip Sheet that the Jets are considering signing Stacey Andrews, who they also had in for a visit, to a RFA offer sheet before the draft. Andrews also carries a second round tender.

He didn't mention Gay.

He also said the Saints probably will sign the Colts Jason David to a RFA offer sheet (he would require a 4th round pick in return) that the Colts aren't in a position to match. David is supposed to replace Nick Harper, who they lost in FA.

Jets were just trying to f*ck with us. Like everyone else, they don't regard Gay as being worth anywhere near a 2nd rounder.

I think they are just dong some early 2008 recruiting, letting Gay know they are interested and maybe even talking numbers. Make it easier to sign him over when he is a UFA.

I think it's a smart thing to do.

Wow, I'm surprised the Colts didn't tender David with a second-round tender. It isn't that much more and would make sure they kept him. Or got a great draft pick if they lost him. A fourth round pick is nothing for a guy you expect to be your starter. We tendered Gay with a second round tender and he is a backup.

Colts fans: here's your chance to change your mind and recant what you said about not worrying about losing Nick Harper because David is better. Now you can say David sucked and he is no loss, just like those stiffs Harper, Doss, June, Freeney, etc

Oh, wait, you still have Freeney. Well, start saying he isn't that good because he'll be playing for someone else in 2008.

-Doss, injured game 6, out for year. Signed for a whopping 1 mil per. Obviously, The Polian is not worried about losing him.
-Reagor, injured prior to game 7, out for year. Rumor at one point was that he would never play FB again.
-Harper, would like to have him back, but, maybe with PacMan gone, Reggie and Marvin can school him, just like they did in practice.
-June, watch the JAX game

D-Line, check
Sanders, check
O-Line, check
Marvin, check
Reggie, check
Clark, check
Addai, check
Manning, checkmate

Unless they cancel the draft, Gay will not be our starting cornerback.

If for some strange reason he does start ahead of Scott or Hawkins he'll be replaced by a rookie by game 3.

I disagree. Too much trouble, just to yank BB's chain. There is real interest. Mangini knows what Gay brings to the field. Same as he recognizes the value in Poteat. Blue is a legitimate starter in the NFL, and Mangini knows better than most anyone not working in Foxboro.

It may be that they feel a 2nd is just too rich. But, still, I think the Jets could offer BB a trade package that would be enough: say a 2007 3rd and 2008 4th. I'd think that would be enough for us. And little enough that the Jets would be willing.

I fully agree with what you're saying, but Harrison needs to be unchecked. He's aged and one must wonder what he'd do without Manning as his QB.

Yeah, whatever, the Dolts are getting weaker it's just one of those weird life things that with a lesser team they finally one . . . solely because the Patriots ran out of steam. What happened last year is in the history books, unfortunately, but it won't help in 2007 and neither will losing your CB.

Well the problem with this statement is that you are ASSUMING that we're going to have 2 healthy starting quality cornerbacks available by game 10 of the season. Face it, Gay might end up starting depending on how many cbs blow out their knees or tweak their acl or whatnot. Happens to us all the freaking time.

why in the world would they talk numbers? if he has 10 picks this year it makes it all awaste of time

They talk the numbers based on projections, which in turn are based on his current progression from his rookie year. It's just a way for the team to let a player know that they are interested and let that info stir in the back of his mind for the next year.

and what if another team offer him 3 million more all the talk is out the window, talking numbers for next year doest happen

Re: Every day I check PatsFans, expecting to see that the Jets have signed Randall Ga

It could be as simple as the Jets and Gay's agent not agreeing on what he is worth.

i agree or the jets offering less than a 2 and the pats saying no, negotiating for next year is a bunch of bull

Of course this is true.

However, if we're going to bet money, I'll put 2 bucks on Gay to be injured before anybody else, unless we resign Tyrone Poole.:p
