I just heard Mike Holley say that rew made more money than any other player ever.

Is that true?? Anyone have a link?

I dont think so. Not that I heard it, but I think Holly is brigng up his 100 Million contract extension with the Pats in 2000. At the time, that contract was valued as the largest in NFL history. Just a little more than Farve at the time. (As we know most of it was funny money for salary cap purposes, but it was still a huge contract).

Since than though Manning. McNabb, Vick, Brady have signed wealthier contracts, so that is no longer the case.

Have heard that before, have to think about his length of time in the NFL.. 14 years, compare to 8 (I think for Manning) and 6 for Brady. This record will not stand, if true, but right now may be right.

It is unfortunate that radio hosts are not required to provide facts to back up their claims. Holley's claim implies that he knows several things
1.) How much Bledsoe took home in cash from 1993-2006
2.) How much Favre took home in cash from 1991 until today
3.) How much Manning took home in cash from 1998 until today
4.) How much Strahan took home in cash from 1993 until today
5.) How much Ray Lewis took home in cash from 1996 until today
6.) How much Ogden took home in cash from 1996 until today
7.) How much Walter Jones took home in cash from 1997 until today

While I do not know the above 7 numbers, I seriously doubt that Drew has made more money than ALL of the other players.

Good enough for me.

Drew's old pal Nick Cafardo was on with Felger today and when Fleger referenced that comment Nick said something to the effect that at one time another media source had reported that Drew had been at that time the all time leading money earner over a ten year period. I think perhaps the period in question was his first 10 years. His #1 deal was for 7 years and $42M. Before the final year of that deal commenced he signed his then record 10 year $103M deal that followed him to Buffalo. It was restructured as I recall because of a large option bonus payment due, but he likely saw most of what he would have seen here in Buffalo during his 3 years there. I think when he moved on to Dallas he fell off the top tier pace and got less dropping down to the several million range.

Favre would have been his competition over those years but he was a 2nd rounder so his rookie deal was no bonanza and his second contract was only for 5 years $19M. He got his $100M a week before Drew got $103M. Although now Brett is still collecting on his 7 years in (and who knows he may get all 10 of his years ).

Whatever though, Drew did OK for a guy who never really got it and certainly never had it.
