Just copy and pasting for fun, I know the usual crap about rumors, blah, blah, blah, just a couple things to think about. All we have to do right now is think about stuff that probably won't happen anyway.

From a Browns board. I bolded the items of interest, whatever you want to say about rumors, trading for veteran LB who have played for Crennel isn't out of the realm of reasonablness :

"andra davis is quietly on the trade block, in conjunction with the second round pick in an attempt to move back into the lower first round if..... darrelle revis or joe staley fall into the the 25-32 range. ( i personally think staley goes at #10 to the texans, prototypical denver/kubiak type lineman) the team loves williams and jackson and got peek so they didnt have to move williams outside and would keep thompson (see ne trade 2 paragraphs below)

watch for fred bennett in the third round, he is the typical savage pick, a guy that was high on everyones list and then took a plunge in the draft offseason.

new england is still interested in chaun thompson for nick kaczur, but might want an additional 6th or 7th round pick.

dont buy into the hype that were trading up for russell, if anything were trading down to a spot where quinn might fall to, (but dont count on it because tampa bay is lurking and loves to stockpile qb's---simms is a ? garcia is short term gradkowski not sold on and mccown the same. now if russell seems to fall to our pick, it could get hairy on draft day for those who dont like russell as the pick (memememememe)

also if calvin johnson is there a trade is almost inevitable.

be careful about lumping russell johnson quinn peterson in a group as the guys most likely to be drafted by us. joe thomas has been talked about little and hasnt been brought to the complex for a reason, savage is trying to keep him off our radar so that teams like arizona and tamps and houston dont move up into the 2 slot to grab him. it would be hard for me to believe hes the pick because of the money spent there already but those are the whispers from around the nfl from my friend."

I should point out the "the team loves williams and jackson" part for the anti Beason types who say he's too small . . . he's bigger than D'Quell Jackson was pre draft last year.

Obviously just a silly internet rumor, but FTR I'd do Andra Davis and a 2nd rounder for either of the 1st round picks.

Like it! Would trade a one for Davis and a two. Would do Kaczur trade too.

Where did you get this stuff Beli?
A Browns board, I already said :D

Sorry, just in one of those moods today . . .

Right here :

It's from a guy who's posted stuff like this before, I haven't gone back to research his track record but even if he's usually "wrong" that doesn't mean he had no info, things don't usually work out; the percent of trades talked about that are actually completed are low.

Putting two and two together from all this it seems like the Browns are looking for a Tackle and have excess LB. If they draft Thomas, they're probably done. If they trade up for Staley they're probably done. If they trade up for Revis or don't trade up at all then Kaczur looks like a possible 3rd option for them.

Didn't they sign Davis to a fairly significant contract extension? If so, why would they trade him and take the cap hit?

EDIT: Davis did get an extension, I wonder what kind of bonus he received?

I would like that trade from a Pats perspective.

I can believe Thompson a little bit more, because he is in the last year of his deal anyway. However, if they deal Kaczur for him I'd like to see them sign him to an extension so it isn't just a one-year thing.

I have thought about the Skins trading their #1 for Samuel and a pick, and then the Pats swinging a deal with the Browns for Cal Johnson, as the Browns take Brady Quinn.

Agreed as would I but for Davis and a 2nd it would have to be the 28th pick. Both trades would make us younger at LB and they both have experience in the 3-4.
