Just saw it on ESPN anyone else see this?

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm glad he made that decision - as a fan of his who will always appreciate how he helped restore credibiltiy to this franchise, it was getting painful to watch him

Maybe Brett Farve will take this as a hint too?

Drew Bledsoe announced his retirement from football.
The first pick in the '93 draft, Bledsoe finishes his 14-year career with 44,611 passing yards and a 251-206 TD-INT ratio. He ranks 13th in career passing scores and fifth in completions despite a sub-par 57.2 completion rate. Bledsoe will likely be best remembered for the injury that allowed Tom Brady to take over as the Patriots' QB in 2001, paving the way for Brady to lead the Pats to three Super Bowl Championships. Maybe he will help out with us once or twice, but have a happy life Drew!!!

I'll be forever grateful to Drew, Bill Parcells and Bob Kraft for turning this franchise around.

Drew raised the Patriots from a culture of losing.
I'll always remember him as a classy guy and a good family man.

I'll always remember him playing with the broken finger. He was a tough SOB.

Forgot all about that, good call. He sure was tough.

It's a shame to see how years of abuse really took their toll on his confidence and decision making. He could have been one of the greats under the right circumstances.

When Bledsoe entered the league, I was 10 years. I remember the Pats starting 1-11 in the 1993, winning the last 4 games, knowing that the future was bright for Bledsoe and the Pats. The '94 and '96 seasons were amazing, and the broken finger game (Miami Mon. Night) is a game I will never forget, specifically because I live in South Florida and am surrounded by Dolphin fans.

I admit I haven't been one of his biggest supporters since Brady showed us what a truly great quarterback looks like, but I wish him well as he begins (in his own words), the next chapter of his life. I think he is retiring at the right time. Good luck, Drew.

Good move. He's a family man. His heart is not in doing what it takes to bring his game to the level required to be a SB champ. He has plenty of money. Why not retire and move on?

Ill never forget the pic on the back of the Herald (I think) of that. Drew was holding up his right hand and you could see two pins sticking out of his fingers. I agree, he was a classy athelete and person and helped revive this franchise. Thanks Drew. And best of luck.

Drew Bledsoe's quote to Tom Brady as he was heading out on to the field for the final drive of SuperBowl 36: "Just sling it".

At least he got a ring. Even if he wasn't the starter then that's more than a lot of QBs can say. I remained a fan of his and enjoyed watching Dallas games with him and the Tuna. It was like watching Pats classic. Too bad they won't be there when we play them this season.

Well, now there are only three active QBs that can say they won two conference championship games. And Bledsoe technically didn't start the second AFCC in '02 but he did play more than half the game though.

That Minnesota game when he sent the current record for attempts and completions in a game was awesome. Also, that pass to Glenn in the Super Bowl was my second best Bledsoe memory.

He showed what he was made of when he took out a full-page add to thank the fans of New England when he got traded. One of the great class acts we've seen.

He was one my fav's... no doubt about it.

Now he will be seen more at the Great Northern...
