Nationally televised games

So what all games do you think will be nationally televised?

This doesn't matter to many, but it does to me since I'm a displaced Pats fan living in Central Pennsylvania (Steeler Country).

I'm guessing I'll be able to watch the following which includes the Steeler game since it is in my market.

I'm also a displaced Pats fan, only in Brooklyn instead of Pittsburgh. Between the nationally televised games, games vs. the Giants + Jets, and 1 pm games in weeks in which neither NY team plays at that time, I should be able to watch all but 5 of the Pats games from the comfort of my living room.

My dilemma is this: having upgraded to an HD tv this December, I decided that I would make the most of it by getting DirecTV and the NFL package this coming season. It'll be a pain in the butt, though, because I get my phone + broadband internet through the cable company, and will have to find new providers for them when I switch, and DirecTV has deals only with some of the crappiest local internet and phone services.

So, is it worth it for 5 games? I mean, it would also be nice to be able to watch whatever non-Pats game I wanted, but really, it was the having to go to the local sports bar and fight off obnoxious Cowboys and Steelers fans to get the Pats on the good TV that I'm trying to avoid.

NFL Sunday ticket is worth every penny. If I lived in the Patriots market I'd get it anyways.

Week one for sure since it's against the Jets.

Week seven probably as well considering the rivalry.

Week eight could be since that's the only Pat's game on FOX this season.

Week fifteen & sixteen for the same reasons as before.

That't not bad being able to watch all but 5. Last year I think I only got to watch 5. I basically get shafted on all divisional games since the Steelers mostly play 1PM games. I did buy Sirius for my wife 2 Xmas ago so I do listen to the games which does help out quite a bit.

I was considering getting NFL Sunday Ticket, but I've spent way to much on my home theater already. So spending the extra $250 a year is a bit much to ask.

One thing to keep an eye on is right before the season Directv will usually offer a deal to new subscribers to switch and get NFL Sunday Ticket for $100 or something close to that.

If you have direct TV and want to watch the games in HD you will have to pay the $250 for the NFLT, $100 for the NFL HD package plus another $10/month for the std HD charge.

Not to mention getting a new receiver and dish. Which they will do free of charge if you pester them enough.

Too much $$$ IMO. I would need to get a HD set as well.

Get a HD tuner for your set so you can watch the over the air HD broadcasts a few time a year.

No, only weeks 11-17 are eligible for flex scheduling.

HD is TOTALLY worth it. You will be amazed at how much you can see that you didn't know you couldn't see before.

Go for it! You've spent on the hardware, now you should spend some on the software. Living outside the United States, if I had the opportunity to get live feeds of Pats games at just regular tv quality I'd be enthused. The NFL broadcasts over the Internet are somewhat underwhelming to this point unfortunately, so I'm very happy when we have nationally televised games.

Most likely, considering the Patriots preseason games on NFL Network are broadcasted onto channel 5 if you live in the area. I sure hope so, because I don't get NFL Network. Otherwise I will be huddled by my radio.

I'm just going to get the package on my box that broadcasts all of the NFL games. That and I'll probably be at the local Pats fans bar a few times to watch them play (the San Diego and Indy games come to mind).

I have had Directv and sunday ticket since I left New England in '96. Have never missed a game since. Cost of Sunday ticket is about the same as going to one game live with my wife!
Upgraded to HD Plasma and HD service with DTV last year. With Tivo, and its slo mo capability, I am in heaven on Sundays. It is amazing what you see. I dislike having to watch games that aren't broadcast in HD and actually have tuned off the better game (ex Pats of course) to watch an HD game.
