New Englands #24 pick Was On The Clock
The Mock Draft Experts All Thought They Knew
Was Belichick Was Going To Do
So Bill Went Ahead surprised And Picked offensive guard Justin Blalock

Truly wretched. But I mean that in the best way.

Brings tears to my eyes.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of this year's draft
that started out on Saturday,
and went to Sunday night

Belichick was a gen-i-us
And Scott Pioli, too
The patriots en-tered the draft
with a first round pick or two, a first round pick or two

The draft it started getting rough
the DBs going fast.
If not for the brains of the front of-fice
The roster would be lost, the roster would be lost

The Patriots now have their men, surprises every one
With a corner Back, a safety too
A weak LB, and a strong
A Running Back, nose tackle and ... defensive end
here on the Patriots' squad.

In keeping with the low quality of poetic offering on here, here's my execrable contribution:

There once was a man named Pioli
Who drafted tight ends, guards and tackles only
He took one look at Willis
Said, “with the Bills he could kill us
And he’ll play better for us than Maroney”

I'll get my coat.

If there's a God, there'll be a poetry forum.

Pats1?

OK, you've moved me to dig deeply into the Mother Goose oeuvre...

Upon seeing an Arkansas DB

Corner-back, Corner-back, wilt thou be mine?
Thou shalt not stop runs or make catches divine,
But give men a cushion, alone in the seam,
Then try to catch up and break bones -- you can dream.

I think you win the prize for the best effort here. Which is not saying a great deal.

Thank you. I have long dreamed of being the lesser among evils.

The title sold it for me. All I need is an urn....or a yearn.

When your favorite team is New England
And September Rolls Around
You gather up your spirits for hope to be Super Bowl bound

With BB and Pioli running the show
The playoffs we are always destined to go
With Brady and Seymour,Bruschi and Stallworth
Nothing less is expected than a Super Bowl Berth

February comes,The BIG game is time to play
The quest for #4 is on the way
So we go to face the best of the NFC
But no team stands in the way for our Super Bowl 42 Victory!

Hm, it doesn' scan too well and some of the rhyme is a little forced but it's worthy of its place in the pantheon of dreadful poetry we've erected here today.

Only another five months until the season starts...

5 more months of poem threads like these will make the opening game SO MUCH better :D

No kidding. At one point this afternoon I thought about writing a sonnet, but that would be just too pathetic. By July I'll have written a frackin' Homeric epic with Tom Brady storming the walls of Troy or something... HELP ME NOW
