Found this on a Jet's board. Bummer.

Restricted free agent CB Randall Gay left New York without receiving an offer sheet.

The same is true for Bengals T Stacy Andrews. Both players would cost a second-round pick to sign, so we suspect the Jets are just getting a head start on free agency next season.

WHO THE HELL WORRIES ABOUT 2008, WHEN 2007 HASNT STARTED AND THE DRAFT IS 3 WEEKS AWAY? MAKES NO SENSE TO ME, TIME TO BURN I GUESS

Wow, what's with the shouting? My ears hurt.

I think Newsday's theory is probably correct, but it's worth noting that Wes Welker didn't get the offer-sheet either. Perhaps the jets are hoping to work out a deal for something less than a 2nd. In which case, I'm not sure I want that trade.

It doesn't mean too much that he did not receive an offer. The

Jets could wait until the last minute (April 20th I believe).

It could have just been an elaborate bluff. Or it could mean the Jets are thinking over their options before deciding to give up a 2nd round pick for one of those guys.

what board did u see this on???

i havent seen it anywhere including newsday

Damn't what is Mangina up to?
Trying to negotiate a trade?
Sorry were not the bears your not gonna steal a Player from us we want the second.
Or a third and fifth maybe?

Teams that are planning to be contenders for years to come plan ahead more than just one year buddy. If it's news to you, then get with the program. That's what long term contracts are all about, even the way they are structure. The draft, etc. Also, Charles Grant (franchised by the Saints this year) visited Tampa to talk about their plans on signing him next year. It's not that hard to understand, sometimes teams like a player and want to let him know that they are interested and will patiently wait till the time is right. Kinda gives them an advantage sometimes over other teams.

Maybe they were hoping the Pats would panic and offer Samuel the farm, or they were trying to tweak BB. The funny thing is I think BB would take a 2nd for a promising but too oft injured player in a heartbeat.

I, for one, am happy that Gay will still be on the team.

And I'm happy with my Hyundai, but if someone offered me a 2nd round pick for it (in the car draft?), I'd probably be OK with parting with it.

When Mangini learned that the Pats were targeting Tory James, he hanged his mind about Gay. Mangini is now possibly talking to james to raise his value and piss off the Pats. Go Pats:rocker:

Bahhhhhhhhh, I wanted magina to give us a second rounder for Gay. There is always hope for the two first rounders For "Greedy Mc Bucks" (cackles in evil laugh) ahahah................

Also ... publicly courting a player when you're allowed to do so ...
provides almost airtight defense against a tampering charge,
no matter what you actually do with him during the intervening closed year.

Seems pretty smart to me. Talk to all the players you're allowed to. Hell, didn't Poteat start some games for them?, (I could be wrong).

I love Hank, but he's no starter.
