Would you trade Asante Samuel to the Bills?

I know usually it's not a good idea to strengthen divison rivals, but the Bills have a need, and they have a mid 1st rounder (#12) that could be very useful to the Patriots.

I don't believe that giving Samuel to the Bills will put them "over the top" although it probably makes life a bit harder for Tom Brady when playing against them in 2007. I'll leave how much more difficult it is to throw against Samuel vs Clements to the "debate team".

So I think the trade would be worth it. With pick #12 the Pats would be looking squarely at Leon Hall, Darrell Revis, or even perhaps Patrick Willis.

I don't believe the Pats will pay Samuel 8/80, so imo this might be the best move for them to make. Second opinions are welcome, so long as they agree with mine, jk .

Not before seeing who is available at #12. Either is going to cost a steep chunk of change, if a DL BB coveted was there and it was a straight player for pick trade then yes. You'd have the two later selections to bring in another CB and pair him with a mid-round choice for moral support and competition. I don't see anything other then a DL, or maybe a sliding Joe Thomas, being worth #12

We know what his weaknesses and how to exploit them.. with that being said, still think there is a chance we will see him on the field in a Pats Uniform in September.

It depends on some things.

1. If Samuel is going to hold out (which I don't think he will). If not, then just let him play under the tag.

2. If the trade is straight up, Samuel for the first. I wouldn't do it if we had to throw in any picks.

I voted yes, because all options must be open.

Saying that, I believe that if Samuel can sustain his level of play, he is worth paying. Not Clement $, but he is worth paying a good amount. If we had Ty Law on this team the last few years I feel we would be MUCH better off.

However, investing too much into a player is dangerous. If BB believes AS was just playing great so he could cash in, and will revert to being a decent corner, then we should not pay him.

but if Samuel resigned people would say hes the 2nd best. The board is homer..if the player pleases..we rate him high but my honest ranking if 6 i would say

Wow Clements only #9 and Samuel #6? If thats the case shouldn't Samuel be getting paid more?

I'm surprised Newman is at #3 overall for you.

I think feelings aside, Samuel should crack the top 10, but I'm not sure where I rank him. Last year's performance was one of the best in the league period. However I am unsure whether he can sustain that high level of play. So I am thinking if we can get a mid 1st for him like with the Bills pick and not have to shell out 8/80 that would be the wisest move.

IMO Harris and Winfield are too high and Hall should be on the list. He's still young and will get burned occasionally but when he's on he's great.

Hall has been terrible this year..i was actually a fan because hes a playmaker and i like his coc kiness SOMETIMES but this year he got beat repeatedly..gave up TDs to Roy Williams, Owens, Ward, Washington to name a few. He had a pretty dissapointing season and he might still be overrated. Hes not top 10 after last years performance but has the most potential to be the best really

Harris is a very good corner in man..hes definatley top 5. Winfield i thought maybe i was putting a little low but hes underrated..very good tackler and cover guy

as far as Clements goes..he really isnt top 5..maybe hes 8th over Winfield but he used to be top 3 but last 2 seasons have been nothing compared to his first 3-4. He had a good year last year but not as good as Samuel or Asamougha. Asamougha from Raiders is actually a very good corner and hes part of a very good Raiders defense..im gonna be paying more attention to him this year.

I voted other: to trade him to another division...

With the loss of clemens the bills are that much weaker and look to be the bottom of the division ( 2 wins for us ) we usually split wins with miami or the jets each year, both of which are getting better, more the jets than Miami. Trading Asante to a division rival would hurt our playoff standings in the future. If we let him go, let him go out of our division, reguardless of weather we know his tendencies in coverage, why risk it. the goal is to make it to the playoffs and win the superbowl, if Asante is on the bills, and it comes to 1 game down the stretch to get in we will regret it IMO.

Yeah if they were willing to play that much money for a CB they would have just kept Clements.

If and when the time comes to trade Asante Samuel, it will be for the

best compensation package available regardless of the team. I'm sure

BB would prefer his trade partner was in the NFC but trade value will be

his prime consideration. Remember BB traded Bledsoe to Buffalo.

Bledsoe was past his prime then.. And Belichick knew it.. despite the first few weeks of 02 , in which Bledsoe looked like a mvp, he became the Drew we all knew and love, mr september..
