OT-Who is the 2nd best WR in the Draft?

There is just something about Rice that really stands out to me. And athletic ability isn't everything.

Based on potential, it's Ted Ginn . . . you can't coach speed like he has. Of course, he's the least likely to reach his potential of the guys who'll go in the top two rounds.

I would take Meachem as the #2 WR in terms of likely production in the NFL.

Ginn has great speed, but he put up far inferior numbers despite playing with the Heisman winning QB. And potential isn't just based on physical ability.

I agree about Jarrett, he is the most accomplished receiver of anyone besides Calvin Johnson, in fact his career stats are better than Johnson's. Johnson is amazing, and to me, he is as close to a sure thing in this draft, but I feel Jarrett is going to be a great pro. I am also very high on Meachem & Bowe, not so high on Ginn or Rice, though, how can you NOT draft a WR named Rice ?

I think D.Bowe from LSU. Ginn is more of a returnman/receiver than a pure receiver. Meachem not bad. I just like Bowe more. Physically, he might look like TO in a year or two. Hopefully, for whomever drafts him without the baggage TO has.

I feel that its a tie between Meachem and Ginn. But I like Meachem. I feel over a career Meachem will probably be the better pro. Ginn still has injury concerns and I wouldn't be surprised to see him at 24 when the Patriots pick. However, I think they will take DB or LB no matter what happens with the WRs.

I wouldn't be pissed if the Pats picked Jarrett, Meachem or Bowe in the first round (though where would they fit ?, so many WR's on the team), I would be pissed if they picked Rice, Ginn or Gonzalez. Though I'd prefer if they went with DB/LB (in no particular order). Would love to see Nelson/Merriweather at #24 and Siler/Poz at #24. Two playmakers for the defense, like last season when we picked 2 playmakers for the offense (Maroney & Jackson).

This is crazy, but I think Anthony Gonzalez will have the second best rookie season behind Calvin Johnson. Jarrett, Meacham and Ginn Jr. will be drafted early on teams that need quick contribution. This means that they will be on teams that are short in quality at the wide receiver position. Gonzalez will be drafted by a team that has their number one, but needs a good rookie to develop into a solid #2. He is smaller and faster (except Ginn) than the top guys mentioned earlier and runs better routes.

Sidney Rice is young and needs to develop. I just feel that if a wr dosen't develop in the first in his first three years, he most likely won't develop at all. Him coming out as a Soph won't make him more likely to succeed. Definately one of the most talented players. Hope it translates to the NFL.

I like Meachem a little better than Bowe, but I think Bowe's stock is on the rise so he will be taken first. Reasons to like Meachem - known for running good routes, great hands (won catching competition this year), played for a big program, very good speed/size combo. Bowe is a more physical receiver and a better leaper however (read redzone weapon) so that may be more attractive to some teams. I think although Ginn's stock has fallen somebody will take a 1st round gamble on him. Rice is borderline late 1st/early 2nd but has a very good upside. I could see Jarrett falling entirely out of the 1st. Hill is just darn fast, his 4.3 40 definitely turned scout heads. Gonzalez has outstanding quicks. Allison and Smith round out the top 10 receivers taken I think. Watch out for Chris Davis on day 2 though. There's also my darkhorse on day 2 Ekewekeru. The guy you've never heard of. Goes late 2nd day or UDFA imo but has freakish size/speed combination. 6-4, 209, 4.48 40.
