Carr signs with Carolina

lol...texans are going to kick themselves when they see what this kid is going to do behind a decent oline

They won't be seeing much of him unless Delhomme gets hurt.

I do think he will see a lot of action. The last 2 years Jake has done nothing.
Carolina ia at the bottom of points scored. Most people i talk with think Jake is over rated.

Delhomme is not going to start!

Carolina has been complaining about him since the Superbowl. Jake is known as a Bledsoe type player. He throws bombs, but makes alot of stupid plays, throws too many INT's and he has one of the best WR's in the game in Smith who is also complaining about Jake.

Look for Carr to be the starter.

I agree there, completely.

Delhomme has been under fire in Carolina and I think the Bledsoe analogy is excellent. A guy who took them to a Super Bowl, lost and has been on the ropes, will now be replaced by a young guy with "the stuff". And make no mistake, David Carr has "the stuff", he has just been floundering in Houston.

This is a great career move for Carr.

I disagree. I think this is a great move for Carr, BECAUSE he is unlikely to start. While Delhomme is under the gun a bit, he is STILL the QB of the Panthers. He's a 60% passer, who throws more TDs than picks.

What makes this such a good deal for Carr, is that he comes to a team with a good OL, RBs & WRs. He also gets a chance to UNLEARN all the bad things he got from leading the league in sacks every year. I think it shows great maturity on Carr's part, because he could have gone to a team where he'd be competing for a starters job. Now he gets a chance to breathe and heal. Delhomme's 32, so he might not have to wait long, and when he does start again, we could see the second coming of Jim Plunkett

FOr the Panthers they get a back up who is better than most back ups in the league. Funny they now have the #1 AND #2 picks in the 2002 draft

Ken is right, Delhomme is the starter, Carr is there to get a mental break and try to move forward as an NFL QB. Carr was just released by one of the worst teams in the NFL, he's not going to walk in as a starter for a playoff contender.

I think Jeff garcia last year proved that if you are a backup in a good team ,given a chance you have a better chance to rekindle your career.

Last year jake got injured a bit and if this happens , carr if put in the center can look forward to a run that will improve his stocks. He is quite young too and has a chance to be a starter for the panthers.

The thing to consider with Delhomme is that he has one of the best WRs in the game right now in Steve Smith but struggled to score last year. I had Delhomme as my fantasy QB and he sucked. I had to pick up another QB because Delhomme was so bad. I don't know if Carolina will have the QB position open from the start of training camp, but they'd be smart to do so. Carr should take Jake's job away unless the light somehow goes on in Delhomme's head.

And Carr didn't just lose his job because he too is a Bledsoe type player who makes a lot of stupid plays and throws too many INT's... because he's a lousy leader who can't read defenses and he holds the ball too long and repeatedly makes poor decisions because he cannot think on his feet at this level and never took responsibility for any of it. He's a lot less mobile than Jake. If he gets in he'll get killed. And he'll be trying so hard to prove himself he'll throw even more anxiety induced picks and Smith will like him even less than Jake.

He doesn't have to be better than Delhomme, he just needs to be better than Weinke. From there, Delhomme will hand his backup the job.

Carr reminds me more of Bledsoe then Delhomme. Carr holds the ball forever and makes his OL look worse than they are.

...but Carr will have more weapons and an OL in Carolina so let's see what he does there.

Hey, I like Delhomme, but he is not very liked in Carolina, by his teammates or the fans or the coaches for that matter. I am sure the personally like the guy, he seems like a good guy, but he is someone they feel holds them back and you can't have your team doubting the QB!

Best of all ... he DIDN'T sign with the Phins.

To be honest...Delhomme stinks.
He had one good year and a lot of luck to get them to the SB. Steve Smith made him look good and a veru good defense.
He is a average QB.
I watched most of last years gameS on TV and never seen so many Bad interceptions in my life by a QB.

There you go, from the mouth of a Carolina fan.
I am assuming carolinatony, that you are not alone in your opinion of Delhomme, correct?

Great for Carr.

Unfortunately, Jake is on a short leash in Carolina. Another performance like last year, his fault or not, Carr will be given a chance to make something happen. When Carr doesn't get it done (and he will have little time to do so), Carolina will be looking back at the draft for their QB of the future.

Brian Brohm or Chad Henne. I'd add Ainge but I want to see how he rehabs his injury.........

I'm just glad he signed in the NFC...I think that he will show himself to be a solid to good starter as the years wear on. I do believe that Delhomme will be the starter (with Carr as the #2) at the beg. of the year but that Carr will take over the reigns by Week 8 and we'll see what he can do w/ an O line, a running game, and (no offense to A. Johnson, another fellow that is having his talent wasted in Houston) an upgraded rec. corps (it is S. Smith, with K Johnson as a #2... pretty tough to beat in tandem... unless you are Indy or Cincy).

It should be fun to watch.... since it's in the NFC.
