Britt re-signs

In an expected move, the Patriots announced the re-signing of offensive tackle Wesley Britt today.

Britt, 25, was an exclusive rights free agent. He played in 10 games with one start for the team last season.

The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Britt was originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round (164th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He was released by the Chargers in the final roster cutdown on Sept. 4, 2005 and was signed to New England’s practice squad the following day.

The Patriots top tackles are Matt Light (left) and Nick Kaczur (swing). Ryan O'Callaghan projects to compete solely at right tackle, while Britt plays both sides.

I adhere to Gomez's/Mike the Brit's rules on the usage of re-sign vs. resign. :D

Well thank god. We still have a pi$$ed off starting CB but at least we have a backup OT. :rocker:

Those who won't resign to the use of this format should resign....

re-signs is correct.......now,if only we could get people to use lose, instead of loose,I'd be content.

..........never mind

6'-8" 320lbs! Man that's a big dude...

I have no idea why I am comforted by this, but I am. GOing on 2 years now I have been waiting for this monster to play and have an impact. Looks like I'll get another year of suspense! :D

That makes my day! I hope we'll see more of him this coming year, blasting some holes for our RB's!!!

Right, and drafted in Round 5, I think, by SD. Hopefully he was raw when they cut him, but now he can master the game under the Patriots' watchful eye and play a key role for us.

Britt's issue is less being raw, than being recovered from the leg injuries of the past. Had he not broken his leg during the Senior Bowl, he probably would have been drafted on Saturday. In fact, he was generally considered a better tackle prospect than Kaczur. His lateral quickness and ability in space were not his strong suits before the Senior Bowl; the question now is: has he retained enough to be an effective swing tackle for a SB contender?

I'm glad that Britt is re-signed, and did not resign. But I will not resign myself to the prospect of Asante Samuel not re-signing.

:woohoo:

He fell to the fifth round becasue he broke a leg in his Senior year and it wasn't fully healed. The Pats put him on PS to train and gave hiim a red shirt year to heal. I think he has a lot of talent and a future.

Brits posting on this Forum and now one playing on the team.
Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

I second that.

And Britt re-signs the same week the Pats get out of the China Bowl. This conspiracy has legs.
